    Default 6 Months post op

It's been awhile since I have posted an update on how things are going. I am now 6 months out doing good so far. Last Sunday was my birthday and one of my short term goals by my birthday or 6 month post op was to be under 200lbs. I am soooo close but those last 4 lbs just do not want to budge. I have been stuck at 204 for the last month, talk about a stall from hell. HOWEVER...I had the best birthday I could have asked for. I received a $25 gift card to Kohls from my boss for my birthday and I had been bugging my husband about needing to go buy a smaller pair of pants. Keep in mind, I hate shopping...specifically clothes shopping!!! My husband talked me into going for my birthday to go buy a couple pairs. The pair I had on were size 18 and was looking to buy two pairs of size 16. After trying on close to 4 or 5 pairs I found the perfect ones that fit just right....they were size 14!!! I immediatly starting crying in the dressing room, I came out to show my husband the paid I had on, tears streaming down my face. He immediately asked "What's wrong?", all I could mutter at the time was "Nothings wrong...these are happy tears'. After feeling a little frustrated with not hitting that short term goal, little did I realize there was another big accomplishment in store for me.

I am still working out 5-6 days per week and about 2 months ago started on free weight/strength training 2-3 days a week with a personal trainer. On average I am spending anywhere from an hour or two hours in a gym. Doing cardio everyday and then alternating the weight training.

Had my 6 month follow up visit with my Doctor the other day and talked to her about my plateu and she confirmed the same thing my personal trainer has been telling me. My body is going through another adjustment especially with lifting weights. Muscle weighs more than fat and as long as I am loosing inches it's still an accomplishment. She is right....the size 14 pants are a big milestone for me. DSC_0061.jpgDSC_0047-2.jpg

Congratulations and belated happy birthday. Each time we drop a size it's pretty amazing. I wait till I actually own and wear three items in the new size until I feel like I really can say that I wear that new size. I wish all manufacturers sized things the same. I am a size 14 but have two size 12s. Very fun.

I was stuck at the 204 mark FOREVER!!! Made me crazy. Then poof! The next time I stepped on the scale it was 198. WTH??? I missed it.
The clothes thing is funny too - I was having clothes phobia. I would go in with sizes too big (18 and 16s) and then sit and cry when they didn't fit. They were all too big. I would leave the store wth nothing. I don't know how to shop in the "regular" sizes! I am now in 12s and I have NO idea what my "style" is. I have 2 boys 17 and 22 and they are helpful (sorta) and are always telling me "Mom!!! you look great!" or sometimes they say "Mom! you can NOT wear that - slutty girls wear that" Gotta love the honesty of boys! lol Good luck and congrats on you weight loss.
