Bougie Comparisons

I got these pictures on a facebook group I'm on. I think they provide a great example of what was left in our bodies. Remember, sleeves stretch by 14-51% from the start of surgery.

Dr. Almanza uses a 32 bougie. Just for an example.

Mine used a 32. He told me that choice was based on a trial which had found maximum effectiveness for weight loss, without any increase in the rate of complications such as strictures or leaking.

My doctor typically does 38, unless requested otherwise. I got a 36. He said he wouldn't advise going lower than 34 because the only thing that has been shown to increase risk of leaks is increased pressure, which is caused by smaller bougie sizes. However, from what I've seen a LOT of people on this board get size 32 without any issues.
