Default Wield body measurement, Weight loss but expanding waist!

    Hi everyone,

I took my body measurement 18days after being sleeved. My waist at that time was 51inches. Today, 27 days after the surgery, my waist is 52 inches! During the time between 18 and 27 days, I lost 3 more kilos! Has anyone experienced such a thing? Any explanation?

PS: I'm a very heavy water drinker
    Cheers.

This might be a little personal, but if we can't say it here...Anyways, could you be constipated? Sometimes when we get backed up, our bellies expand. Also, another possibility would be that you didn't measure in the exact same place. If the tape is up or down a little bit can give you inaccurate readings. I wouldn't sweat it right now, but if by next month, with more weight loss, it goes up or doesn't change, I'd ask your dr.

Probably has more to do with placement of the measurement tape. If it shifts at all from original spot you will see differences

abdominal swelling in the tissues from surgery takes a month to go down on some people. i've lost 24 pounds this month but its barely noticeable in my abdomen.

I agree that it probably is more about the placement of the measuring tape than anything.

My waist measurement is much slower to go down than anywhere else - it's kind of weird. (The belly too) I got excited when I could see the two lower incision scars without "moving" anything around. That's when I knew I was losing around my waist in spite of the measuring tape.

I think that I had some swelling but also loss of muscle tone in my abdomen particularly where the incisions were. It meant my tummy didn't naturally hold itself in as much, it seemed much more of a pot belly for the first few weeks post-surgery. It's getting back to where it was now.
