    Default down 20

Well, I've been on the preop diet for a week now....thought I was gonna wither away from starvation lol, but I'm happy to say I'm still alive and am down 20lbs from my highest weight. Pretty stoked for that, not gonna lie, but I have another week left and I'm hoping it goes quickly! I am figuring the busier I stay, the better I am and I have been going to bed super early to take my mind off of it. And by early, I mean like 7pm! I found that even though I miss my morning caffeine from my coffee, drinking the decaf still fills me up and gets me through the morning until I have my one meal for lunch with the kids. I then have a protein shake mid afternoon and one about 7 for an later supper. That has helped. My sister did make a chocolate cake for the kids for snack one day and watching them all eat it in front of me was just depressing, I love chocolate. I made her take the pan home with her lol. We are down to the final week of countdown to surgery. More excited, not anymore nervous yet, but for sure anxious. Anyway, enough of my babbling, just helps to "talk" it out with fellow sleevers. Onto homework I go! Good luck and 3 cheers for everyone in the process!!

I just started to learn there was a pre-op diet. What does it consist of?

not sure if they are all the same, but mine was replacing 2 meals with a protein shake and one small meal, mostly protein and a non carb vegetable. I can drink decaf coffee with non dairy creamer, unlimited water or zero calorie drinks, no pop or alcohol. The goal is to shrink the liver for more working room during surgery and lessens the risks I think

I am beginning a similar 2 week pre-op diet this coming tuesday. (sleeve scheduled on 10/23) and it is 2 protein drinks 2 fruits, skim milk, water, coffee, tea, crystal light, etc. I wonder why they switched you to de-caf and mine didn't . It doesn't matter, because I have to severely limit my caffeine anyway, due to other healt quirks.

Good luck wth your surgery, Maren!
