Recommendations for Northern NJ?

Im still doing my research about possibly doing the surgery or lap-band. I would like to know if there are any doctors in Northern NJ or Rockland/Westchester Counties in NY that do the gastric sleeve surgery?

Also has any had issues with insurance covering it?

Hi,
I am from Rockland County. I had my surgery at Englewood hospital on July 30th! My Surgeon was Dr. Anthony Pucci! He was and is wonderful! He also has an office in NJ! I have United HealthCare! He was not on my plan but worked with insurance Co and it only cost me $100.00 for psyc counseling! He is always around if you need him!

Thanks, im going to look on horizon bcbs of nj's site and see if he's a participating doctor. Englewood is a few towns over from me.

Hi there!

I did a ton of research prior to starting the process and I came across Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. Their Center for Bariatric Surgery is partnered with Columbia Presbyterian in NYC. I attended a seminar, which was very informative. I've gone for a consult with Dr. Schrope and found her to be very helpful and patient with my questions and concerns. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, they can answer all your insurance questions. I also have HBCBS NJ. All in all I'm very happy to have found them. I hope to move forward with the surgery in the fall.

I had my surgery at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. There office is wonderful! They have a dietician on staff and I make back to back appointments with the surgeon and the dietician when I go (on my lunch hour). They do all the paperwork, and tell you exactly what you will need to do. My surgeon was Dr Bagloo, but I've also met Dr. Schrope. Who they set you up with is based on your insurance and when you attend the seminar.

Best decision I've made!

well i spoke to my primary and he highly recommends weight loss surgery and told me about the 3. Now he is going to recommend one and get me a referral or if I find one he'll get me a referral for that one. Looking at Dr. Shrope and Dr. Bagloo, I like what i see. I'll see if I can get a referral for either.

I went to the Lap-Associates, Paramus, NJ. Dr. Amid Trivedi. He was great, all the doctors are great. I started at Valley Hospital, but transferred to the Lap-Associates and had surgery at Hackensack. This group of doctors has the most experience in the U.S. with the sleeve, they were the first in NJ to perform it. It all went smoothly, the only complaint is the wait time in the office is sometimes very long. Best to you.

Thanks for the recommendations. I spoke to my primary physician and he recommends the surgery, as does my ENT and the endocrynologist had recommended it back in the fall of last year as an option. So with the names given to me for the doctors out of Valley Hospital and this latest i'll speak to my primary again to work on a referral to speak to one. Thankfully they are all covered under the HMO.

That's Great Steve!!! She's great! I just saw her last week for my 3month post op visit. The whole office is great too! If you have ANY questions I'm here and ask away!

I see Dr.Bagloo tomorrow at 1:30pm. The seminar wasn't anything I didn't know from researching things myself. And it did not sway my choice of what I want done. I did forget to ask what kind of weight do people see in the first few weeks/months after surgery? And if there is alot of loose skin after loosing the weight, is the surgery to correct it covered?

I saw Dr. Bagloo on 10/25 and went over everything and told her that im set on the sleeve and nothing else. She gave me my checklist of things to do before hand. I'm slowly getting that done. Having hurricane sandy hit didn't help at all as everything was or is still closed. I got my referral for a cardiologist and will have one for the gastro doctor. Im having my primary get the letter written for Horizon BCBS and i'll be heading to Valley Hospital for my blood work tomorrow or the follow monday.
