I think I have hit my bottom :/

Today, we had our annual church picnic and one of our church members own a small 6-seater plane and when I got on, the seat belt would not fit. I was so humiliated to say the least. Luckily, everyone except the pilot was my family, but I was still embarrassed especially with my 130 pound sister in law beside me. He said well you will be okay and I made a joke and said well what does the seat belt matter anyway if the plane goes down....lol Geez, I am only 250, but in that moment I felt like 1000 pounds

Thank you. I just can't wait to be a new me, the me that I feel like I am on the inside. Ready to have this surgery and use it as a tool to get healthy again!

I felt what you had said as I read your post. Have you had your surgery or are you going to? I look forward to mine as I'm tired of the fat jokes and then turn around and say you look good tho. (Liers.) I'm sorry you had to feel that pain.

i can relate i use to travel for business, totally hated it when the seat belts wouldnt fit and then you have to ask for a seat belt extender and then wait for the person to bring you one. usually they forget so you have to ask again and its just so embarrassing. I jsut had surgery and I cant wait to fit into the seat and not have to have an extender or spill over into the next seat

Cherrob...I was where you are 1 year ago and I travel ALOT for my work, so you can imagine the embarassement EVERYTIME I flew. But, the sun is shining on the other side and 1 year later....I don't spill in the next seat and have even forgotten about looking for the hostess the minute I enter the plane to ask her for the extension. I always say, it's the small things (that thin people take for granted) that matter SO much in our journey to losing weight and you can be sure....one of them is definitely getting on the plane and being able to fasten your seat belt! Think about these little moments when you are about to enter the OR (if you're planning on getting sleeved that is)!Best of luck!

I am really sorry you went through that. I had similar times when I could not fit in seats, could not get out of seats, forget amusement parks with the kids. Comfort is right. It's the little things that only you know you struggle with that makes the difference. For me it's crossing my legs in a ladylike way. I have wanted to be able to do that for years and I finally can. You will find that it's not just the transformation on the outside, but the one on the inside - the healing of your heart that will surprise you the most. Just know that you have many friends surrounding you here as you go through the next step in your life. God bless.

Thanks everyone! This forum has been so informative and everyone has been so supportive. I have not had surgery yet. I am trying to coordinate my days to get the ball rolling. I have already been contacted by the surgeon's office and hoping to have my appointment soon so I can be on the losing side hopefully by the end of the year! Thanks again everyone for your support. I did love the plane ride - even with the embarrassment

I know what you mean.....or they say "you are pretty in the face." I have not had my surgery yet. I am trying to coordinate my days. My hubby is in graduate school and graduates in Dec and he wants me to wait until then. If so, I see your surgery date is on 12/10/12...maybe if I have mine close to your date we can keep in touch.

I was so embarrassed and couldn't get it out of my mind. I said that day....I won't live like this another day. As soon as I got home, I started researching weight loss options. Here I am 9 month later and have a foot of extra seatbelt when I fly

Awesome! I can't wait to be able to comfortably fit into any seat in anything that I want and have plenty of extra room!

I know how you feel. I fly to Arizona this October. It's not a big commercial plane either. I don't know what's going to happen and I'm worried.

I haven't flown in a few years because of this very reason. After surgery, I will get on a plane and not worry if I'm gonna fit or if the person next to me is going to be annoyed.
