    Question Gluten Free Post-Op Diet

    Hi All -

I recently found out that I have a gluten intolerance and possibly Celiac's Disease. I'm scheduled for surgery in 3 weeks and I'm totally at a loss for gluten free post op foods.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what gluten free "mushy" foods (other than mashed potatoes) might work during the soft and moist food stages ?

~ doesn't think she'll ever reach her original weight, no matter HOW hard she tries. Hell, let's face it, 8lb 10oz is not very realistic is it?

I am almost three months post and still have not had any wheat or gluten products. By the time I eat the protein and some veggies, I don't have any room for anything else. When you get to the point that you can actually hold more, which won't happen for awhile, you will have had time to look for recipes on the internet and products in the stores. It's so much better than it was years ago when people had to make everything from scratch. There are cookbook dedicated to this lifestyle. Getting one would be a good guide to how different things convert to your recipes.

I am just a bit worried because my program suggests a lot of oatmeal, cream of wheat and instant mashed potatoes. I've been thinking Tuna salad may be a good move but I feel like my options may be more limited. Any cookbooks you might recommend?

My few cookbooks are very old and probably no longer in print. I would just go to a big bookstore and sit and look through the ones they have until I found which one was best. Some of them have a lot of information that is really useful in learning how to manage your meals. Have you been given a list of what you can and can't eat?
