What? This is ridiculous! From what I am reading, no one ridiculed you! You are over reacting and obviously read something wrong.

My sister has a sleeve and no hormone changes. not to mention why would you screw with your hormones anyway that's just stupid. Stitches come out of gastric sleeves too you have to be careful until you are healed as with any surgical proceedure. Your comments are offensive. Because you some lay person hasn't heard of something it can't be good how arrogant you are. Anyone truly interested in weight loss surgery needs to get answers from your surgeon. Not people on a web chatt. I only wanted to share an experience and what a person can do in after care the would ease the routine discomfort of surgery. I hate that I put myself out there for you to crap all over. Drop dead

So far I'm doing well with the diet, except that I frequently get diarrhea. I've lost about 27 lb. and I'm feeling good. Just a little concerned about what can I eat that won't upset my stomach.

So I had a plication done on 12/16/2012 and I'm almost 1 month post-op and I haven't had any issues or weird side effects. Just thought I'd share that not all plication experiences are bad.

I have had the plication 3 yrs ago after the Lap Band fail - after I had the lap band for 6 and 1/2 yrs. I wasn't going to give up on the Lap Band. I just got tired of throwing up. After I had the lap band removed, my weight was creeping back up. I got back up to 270 approx. after loosing down to 190 with the band. I weighed 297 the day I got the band. So I was heading back there . I was informed about the plication. Well I have lost some weight with it and have kept it down. but it is just stalled out and won't go lower. The Lap Band... if all is honest - I can assure you that most have daily episodes of throwing up with every meal. I did. My dentist said this was bad for the enamel on my teeth (stomach acid). Well I fear having dentures. So that was a definite to get that thing out and now. So I did. Now I am going back and having the Sleeve. That is where I should of gone years ago. I wouldn't be where I am now.

I wish you the best..sorry you had to go thru another procedure ... I did not have that so to speak "luxury of Choice" I had a gastric bypass in 2000 and the only thing that was being offered to me now is a lap band....so I will adhere to the rules and hope it serves me well...I have not had any vomiting or actually any problems so far..perhaps I will be one of the more fortunate ones....good luck to you and thanks...Anita

I just heard about this surgery from my brother. Thanks all for posting so that I can be educated in this. It doesn't matter what surgery we have as long as it works for us.

Please read up on the hormone ghrelin. This hormone has a lot to do with hunger and food cravings. Most of the ghrelin in our bodies is produced by the section of the stomach that is removed during VSG surgery. I would think having the cravings and being unable to eat enough would be sort of like torture. I know that everyone choses the best choice for them and good luck to you. Oh, and I am still super obsese at 334 lbs- no skinny bitch here.

In Gastric Bypass (which has a long history of being very successful), people still produce grehlin, but are restricted in what they can eat. Obviously not being hungry is a bonus and helpful for people, but it's not a necessity for WLS to be successful. Many people who have the sleeve also describe still being hungry, or a return of hunger after a time.

I am definitely hungry. I started experiencing hunger about a month after my surgery. I wish I were one of those people who are years out from surgery and say they still need to remind themselves to eat, but alas, I am not. The good news is that for me, my hunger primarily happens close to meal times, which makes perfect sense to be hungry when dinner is half an hour away.

Me too, hunger wise. As long as I stay away from sugars, I am only hungry appropriately, meaning, at what you'd call regular meal times. If I wake the sugar monster....well... let's say it's a powerful monster.
