Question Day 2 post op - - - stairs question

Soooooooooo lots of fun to be had by all. Came home yesterday - prety sore no surprise. I guess I over did the walking because I ended up in the ER last night having them check for blood clots as my right calf hurt - apparently i just walked TOOOO MUCH - so good news there.

The log roll isn't helping me and i have moved fromrcliner to adjustable bed - not really getting the sleep I need. I gotta get thisinandout of bed thing mastered -I look anythingbut graceful when I do it now.

So Question - stairs, my nurse told me the stairs would be a good excerise - but the phyical therapist said no stairs. ANyone else got a weight in on this one?

    msstori,
I am a physical therapist and I rarely ever tell a patient not do stairs, especially with a young, relatively healthy person such as yourself. What I do recommed is that you limit the stairs to once up at night and once down in the morning and to gradually increase as you tolerate. You should be taking the stairs slowly and using the railing. Hope this helps.

I have stairs in my house my first weekend after surgery, I was home by myself. Took them very slow and not as often as pre-surgery, no problems.
