    Default Driving

    Hi guys,

Just a bit of info I was given by my consultant.....
I have been told that I should not consider driving my car for between 4-6 weeks post surgery. I was told that the reason for this is that because the stomach muscles are bruised etc, that until I am totally confident to stamp my foot on the ground, I should not drive. In other words, at the moment, slamming on the brakes in my car would be either difficult or painful.
Just wanted to pass this info on. Be safe and keep others safe. Until our reactions and reflexes have returned completely, we could be a danger to others and ourselves if we drive too soon

    Love
    Lisa xxxxx

that seems a little extreme? I didn't have any issues, just told not to life so you don't get a hernia?

I know! It seems like ages! However, my physio told me the same thing too. It is not a major issue for me at the moment, but I can imagine it could be a giant pain in the bum to those of you who rely on your car to go to work etc xxx

My MD said no driving for 2 weeks and then no driving while on pain medication. Most people don't realize that you can get a DUI (driving under the influence) while on pain medication, but you can. Either way, I waited 2 weeks and by that time I was off the pain medication anyway.

I was driving on day 3, off of pain meds and with no problems whatsoever. That seems way too conservative, and beyond cautious. Just saying.

i was told by my dr in Cardiff to wait seven days until the clips had been removed, then i was free to drive. I had no problems with driving, but was careful not to drive long distances due to the fact i could get tired,
    best wishes helen xx
