    Default Drain tube

Hello. My name is Linda. I had my sleeve done on Monday, May 21st. I have lost 18 pounds in one week. The worst part about this whole ordeal, was the DRAIN TUBE! It kept me immobile. The stitches that held it to my stomach were twisting and the tube was turning; it irritated my skin a lot. I couldn't take the pain any more so I cut the sutures myself. The next day the drain tube came out a little bit. I decided to remove it myself the day before the surgeon was going to do it. I was unstoppable after that! That drain tube was the worst experience ever for me. I didn't feel any other kind of pain or discomfort, but my drain tube was unbearable. I am no recovering from the drain hole and incisions, as I did get staples on all 5 of them.

I found mine bothersome but certainly not painful. Mine was removed by the doctor on post op day 2. Some doctors don't use them at all.

Wow, I had mine removed the day after surgery right before I went home. I felt much better after it was out. I'm sorry you had yours so long. i can't imagine! I also can't imagine taking it out myself. I yelped when the nurse removed it! I'm a self admitted wennie though! I hate pain or discomfort of any kind

I had mine NINE miserable days, supposed to be 10 but it got red and nasty and I went in a day early. Didn't get any kind of real sleep until they pulled that nasty thing out. Worst part of the whole thing by a long run.
Best NSV - fitting on a kid's amusement park ride with my 4 yr old grandson!
CFIDS =Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Also dx with post-bariatric reactive hypoglycemia; and chronic gastritis (both sleeve complications). Permanently disabled.
Start weight 335, down to 218, up during gastritis. Have accepted there is no way to lose it with my hypoglycemia. Current weight 260. Currently doing 10 day sleeve reset and determined to get back down to my post surgical weight or close to it.

Amen Sister!! That's how mine was! LOL! The sutures holding to my skin was what was killing me so they had to go. But the tube also, it was the most annoying ever. Well, glad that part is over.

Wow, right away it was removed? You were lucky. The torture of that thing. Maybe you didn't leak or bleed as much and that's why they removed it right away. For me, I was suppose to have it 9 days. I don't remember feeling pain because I was so focused on pulling it out completely. I don't think it hurt. The day before I pulled the tube I had already cut the sutures myself so when I removed the tube it was pure relief. The mind is a mysterious thing sometimes.

Yes, you were very lucky. I suppose I bled too much to not keep the drain tube in tact. The tube didn't hurt, it was the sutures. Then they got all twisted and they kept pulling my skin and the whole area turned red and nasty, some purple too. Worst ever. Once I cut the sutures, the pain was gone. Maybe if they didn't use sutures to hold it in place, I would have nice things to say about the tube. LOL! But I'm glad that ship has sailed.
