I've stopped losing weight after 3 weeks!!!

So... I had my surgery 3 weeks ago... in the first two weeks, I lost 23 lbs... but now, since I've started introducing mushed regular foods and eating soft foods, I've only lost 1 lb in the past 5 days or so... HELP!!!!!!
Maybe its the sweet tea... maybe its the one milk-shake I had... maybe its the KFC mashed potatoes... I dont know but this SUCKS!!!

It happens to everyone I usually will loose a pound every other day and stall for a week and a start all over again,You have to make sure to eat your protein first and drink all your water that makes a big difference.careful with those foods that are full of calories that can stall you too.Hope you break the stall soon

I agree that the carbs, etc. don't help but it's also your body just sorting things out. It's got a big "What the #$%^ just happened to me?!" going on now that 80% of your stomach has been cut out and all of those surgery/post op drugs are trying to filter themselves out of your system, less nutrition is coming in... My stomach, my poor stomach that served me well and never let me have food poisoning...was similarly outraged.

Barrbdoll please don't.reply to my questions anymore. I'm pretty sure this is where people come to get positive help and advice from people who want to help. You are very negative and I didn't come here to be put down and yelled at. You are the only person that I've encountered on this website that was anything less of friendly and eagerly helpful. I've deleted my comments as you have obviously taken them completely out of text........ My intent is NEVER to berate or maim.. I have made some wonderful new friends off this site and we support each other whether we don't want to hear it or not! We are all in this struggle together and sometimes we need folks that give their opinions in different ways. I have a TON of more weight to lose but I wouldn't have gotten to where I am today if it wasn't for folks pointing out things that I have said and making me accountable for my choices.

To be honest, it does get old with newbies asking the same questions over and over when the answers can be found in a quick search of the forums here. Sometimes I answer, sometimes I invite them to search the forums, sometimes I ignore the questions altogether so I can understand Barbbdoll's sentiment even as I did not express myself that way. I can also understand your sentiment as well as I've been there myself, so maybe a little patience here on both sides would be helpful.

You weren't making me accountable for my choices because you were pointing out how stupid I am to not already know what stalling is and how I'm should have researched it before asking about it. I didn't even know there was a term for it.or that it was common BEFORE I ASKED HERE! You gave me nothing productive and you were nothing but negative and harsh. I hope np one treated you that way when you were lost and reaching out for help. Don't act like you were trying to help me. And I am on a cell phone and its not very easy to research terms i've never heard of... I didnt realize that it was such an inconvenience to you guys to say - "its called stalling, its normal, watch what you eat and exercise and you will get through it" I am SO sorry to have bothered you people... I wont be posting on this website again. Thanks for your awesome help. I will find a new community to seek information.

Hi. I replied to your other post but felt compelled to reply to this one as well. I hit my first stall at 2 1/2 weeks out of surgery. I was getting so depressed and so discouraged. I turned to this website and other support groups for support. Positive support. It really helped me through the roughest of days. So did a lot of crying and my husband's understanding. But I made it through and I decided then that I would stop weighing myself everyday. It was discouraging me to the point of making me even more depressed. Of course it took me almost a week to make that decision. So at 3 1/2 weeks out I stopped weighing myself everyday and started focusing on the fact that my clothes were fitting better, I could fit in a smaller size and I felt amazing. I was doing so much better. Then came my 4 week check up with my NUT!!! (You will see why I call him that in a minute).

At my 2 week check up he was astounded by the amount of weight I had lost in just 2 weeks. His eyes actually bugged out of his head and told me I was doing an amazing job. He told me if I kept that up, I would hit my goal in 6 months. Things were great and I was on top of the world. Then the big STALL!!! I went back to him for my 4 week check up and he told me that he was now disappointed that I had only lost 2 pounds since my last check up with him 2 weeks prior. He told me, "Yes, stalls happen but not this early out." He told me I was eating too much (although I showed him my food and exercise log), and told me I was not exercising enough. It was such a total let down. I went home crying to my husband again. (Thank God for my sweet husband <3).

Anyway, I said all that to say this....eat what you have been told to eat. Find things you like that are protein rich. Drink you fluids. Do whatever activity you can. Take your vitamins. Don't weigh yourself everyday. And if you haven't already, start taking measurements. You will find that during these stalls is when the inches come off. Hang in there and know that we are here if you need us
