I believe it was 90 minutes. However they held me in the recovery room for more than three hours.
I would suggest you to contact the hospitale ahead of time and ask how things work in there.
in my hospital there a screen with code and my family had the code so they could see where I was all the time.
I think that if they did asked they could have also seen in recovery room, but if you have an anxious mom I would not recommend that.
you may be in pain for the gas. Not everyone has the experience. It depends from hospital to hospital and from case to case. a lot depends from where the gas will sit and the anesthesiologist philosophy on drug administration. I had a stingy doc that in order to allow a speedy recovery did not started the pain meds since I was completely awake and the gas sat just on my diaphragm and did made me hard to breath for a while and since I am asthmatic I freaked out a litte. So I was in pain and in distress cause could not breath well. So they took me in the recovery room longer. However I was so well taken in care of, those amazing little angels of the nurses were there for me and never left my side till the meds kicked in and the pain went down. But the surgeon and the nurses kept my mom on the loop so she was not scared. I think it is better you understand the operation in the hospital and ask to have your mom in the loop.
Good luck with your surgery.
hey Very Large Bob, I thought I was the only one who "drunk dialed" my family. My cousin still kids me about it. No recollection of making the call at all! :-) I think my surgery was about an hour - but I wasn't "with it" until about 3 hours later. :-) I'm down 51 pounds in just under 3 months! Down 4 sizes too! Fell great! deb :-)
