Default 16 weeks post op, blood work back, and a new nick name!!

Last week was my follow up with my PCP and surgeon. I will fill you in on both visits.

At the doctor's office it was to get my blood work done as I am now over 90 days since surgery and I just wanted to get tested to make sure that my diabetes was gone. While the nurse was taking my blood we were discussing my weight loss and I informed here about my surgery. She told me that my doctor also had the sleeve done about 5 years ago. Funny thing is when I was talking to her about diet options, she never mentioned this (not that I expected her to divulge her past, but she could have thrown it out as an option and didn't). In fact her words were diet and exercise, I still don't know how I feel about that, but this is about me. I was told that they would call me so I waited for the results.

I got the call yesterday, everything was perfect and within normal levels except my triglycerides. The good ones are low and the bad ones are still high (but lower than before). This tells me I am on the right track. I do need to add more vitamin D and she also suggested fish oil to help with the triglycerides so I guess I will be taking a few more supplements. LOL

Meeting with the surgeon on Friday went well, he is pleased with my progress thus far, but suggested that I need to take in more calories. HUMMMM... NO ONE, I repeat NO ONE has ever told me that before. I took his advice and added a few calories to my diet and low and behold, the scales started moving again ( I was in a stall, but I didn't mention that to him.)

I also had a date with a guy that I have been seeing on and off for a couple of years. He is excited for me in that I am losing the weight that I am, he had no issues with my previous size. However, he has now started calling me "Tiny Titties" or "TT" for short. I so had to laugh!! I am still in a D-DD cup so I am not seeing that much difference in the cup sizes, but the band size has gone down. He assured me not to worry as "WE" can get surgical correction if needed. I laughed as I said "oh WE can, huh?" Glad to know that he has committment issues but is willing to pay for enhancements on something that he doesn't own! The good thing is I think he has figured out that maybe if I am looking better to him, I am also looking great to others cause he is keeping in touch so much better lately!

Anyway, sorry for the long post I guess I should wait so long to post!

Best wishes everyone and keep the motivation coming!

Wow - someone else with a higher triglycerides in the first blood work after surgery. I'm not alone........ Mine came back also with a higher triglycerides which I have never had before. I had my Nut check out my food log and she didn't see anything that would have popped the higher Bad Cholesterol number. But she said to keep doing what I was doing and we will check the blood work again in 3 more months.

With the increased calories, my NP told me the samething, but the Nut said to stay on the current range (600to 800 aday). This last weekend I hit 2 days with 1000c & 1200 each day and lose a pound. Go figure??? But I have to say those additioanl calories were protein based calories and I was above the 100gr totals the Nut wants. Which I can not do in the 600-800 daily calorie intake.

But it sounds like everything is going well, so keep going girl! Good luck with the new bf (ok, sort a new bf).

Chief, I know it didn't seem right to me, but then again it was way up there before, so at least it is improving. As far as the calories go, I upped for this week to see how it goes, maybe next week I will lower it again to see if that does anything. It is a constant challange for me. You are almost to your goal, congrats to you!!

Munchkin -Thanks I can only hope so! You are doing great on your weight loss as well!!

Ambercard - this week I am trying to get above 1000 but not more than 1200. His concern was that I was generally getting in 800 or so. For me, it was worth a try.

    Good luck to you!

tempred, I seem my Nut yesterday and we looked over my food logs for the past 2 weeks and I was ranging from 800 to 1000 cals. But nothing seems out of the ordinary for Sat Fat levels or carbs. So she ordered another set of blood work for late June to see if it changes. But she is holding my below the 1000 Cal level for now. Good luck with your efforts!
