1 day post op, extreme pain

Hello, surgery went well and was feeling great yesterday, but woke up in considerable pain today in my stomach and back. Dr's say to keep walking around and I keep occasionally burping, but the pain is not decreasing. Even pain meds are not helping, Has anyone else experienced this...will it subside? Is it gas?

Take a gas ex strip. It's the gas they used to fill your tummy. The more you walk the better it will be. Try to get someone to get those gas ex strips for you that will take care of it!

Sorry you're hurting! My pain was/is coming from where my stomach was removed. The more you walk, although painful, the better you will feel.

Im in Mexico and no gas ex strips in sight. Ive been walking around every 20 min or so, but oh the pain.....Im just hoping its actually gas and no other complication. The pain was all over but now is just in my lower stomach.

Its definitely the gas, lovey! They just dont prepare you for how painful its going to be! I felt like I had a broken back and no matter how I sat or lied down it ached. You have to walk walk walk as much as you can - thats the only way to get rid of it unfortunately. In a couple of days you should feel much better. Good luck to you on your recovery.

it could be gas. do you have a drain tube? i was also in a lot of pain, but as soon as my drain tube was removed, 99% of my pain was gone! good luck!!

I had my surgery Thursday morning. I am still in hospital getting released today. My pain was very high, my blood pressure was high and I was swollen. Today I have been burping and passing gas ... I'm feeling better although still feel like I got kick dropped. No pain no gain I guess
