What you are going through is totally normal! I am going through the exact same thing right now BUT with complications. Don't be scared of the side effects unless you are feeling something abnormal, unusual pain etc and if so GO TO YOUR DR! The depression is so normal, the trapped feeling and the feelings like nothing will ever be the same again. If you can get your hands on some motivational readings I would suggest it. As well as get outside as much as possible to distract you.
    Good luck

I am now 6 weeks post op and around the third or fourth day I felt the same. It does get better and in the end the benefits will out weight the tough time. Once you are able to get out and about you will begin to feel like your self.

About a week out I started to feel better and wanted to get out of the house. Try going out for short walks when you feel down.

I know this most likely doesn't help at this time but it will get better.

    Hello:

I have not been sleeved yet, however, I think I can understand what you are going through. Being diagnosed with depression and taking meds for it I am sure I will be feeling the same things you are feeling.

My thoughts are with you and it really will pass and things will look and be brighter.

You're pretty normal! You will feel better everyday. The doubts will likely go away. You've made a fantastic decision, just get thru the next few days...

It's normal.. let your hormones some time to balance out, a lot is going on in your body and mind, its fine. Just stay strong, stay around friends and loved ones, keep yourself occupied and talk talk talk about your feelings, like you did coming here to post about it, totally the right thing to do. You will return to normal, and then even start to feel better than normally, after that.. hang in there and stay on track

Oh my - I could have written your post. I was sleeved on Monday so this is 3 days post for me. I've been asking myself the same question about why I did this but I remember reading so many posts where most asked themselves the same, only to be free of regrets and full of delight weeks and months down the road. I hope for and expect the same! I also am concerned about complications. My swallow test wasn't perfect and not enough went through to tell for sure that I was leak-free so the Dr. went on faith that his scope test after surgery told him enough and I'm okay. Then when I have a little twinge in a leg I think oh oh! And I know the pain in the middle of my chest is gas but of course it could be a heart attack...But you know what, this isolation, discomfort, nausea, weird pain in weird places...it's all gonna pass and we're going to be on the other side of this before we know it. I am where you are and I have faith in us both. Keep writing and sharing - you are not the only one it helps. Thanks so much. Here's to a speedy recovery for us! Big hugs to you!!
    - Peggy

The first few days are tough and you do find yourself wondering why on earth you did this to yourself. But as soon as your able to get up and about and start to see the weight coming off you will be over the moon you made the decision to get sleeved.
Last night was my first "night out" to an awards dinner - people who hadnt seen me for a while were coming up saying how amazing I looked and wow youve lost so much weight. A real ego boost!! The dinner was a bit of a challenge but I just chopped it all up and hid the chicken under salad leaves on the plate!! - to top it all off I won the award. Life is good with the sleeve and you'll see it soon enough, just stick in there and know this was one of the best decisions you ever made.
Everyones been where you are and we're all here to support you when ever you need to chat/vent/cry

My best suggestion is to get outside and sit. The dark house or hospital is depressing, that's for sure. I am 4 days post op today. I was feeling great yesterday, but the night before, I was sad. Today, I'm just tired and drained feeling. Just know everyone here is also going through something similar and it will all work out. The sun is great therapy.

(((hugs))) It gets better...I promise. Just keep looking forward. It's too easy to look back and see what you are missing. But look forward. I have lost 83 pounds...down from a size 26 to a 14. Trust me...well worth it!!!!

Glad you're feeling a little better. Everyone said it SO well. There's a LOT going on that your body is trying to sort out. And because of that your emotions are on a rollercoaster.

But just stay on the ride, seat belt on and smile through the good parts and try to stay positive in the rough spots and you'll make it.

Really glad your feeling a bit better, it really is day by day just now - take it easy, little steps and you'll get there. Fresh air and friends are definately the way to go. Then in a few weeks the more you do the better you'll feel. I went swimming today for teh first time post op (had sign off from Dr) and I feel great!!
Good luck and go easy on yourself x

I'm 10 days out and still have those "why did I do this?" feeling at least once a day. I keep thinking, could I have really done this without surgery?, etc. But, this forum keeps me going. The very few people I've told don't want to hear my every moan, worry, fear and concern over and over again. But, everyone on here does! That's the beauty of this forum!! I actually made my family dinner and sat at the table with them and had my soup tonight and was ok with it. I didn't think that day would come! Just one more week and I will get to eat soft foods (which is so close to normal I can taste it!!). From what I understand, if we can get to about the 2 month point, we will be eating again and the worry and concerns will be gone. We can do anything for 2 months!

Don't give up what you want most for what you want at the moment. - great quote I read somewhere! It's true!!!

Sheez Colleen - I've thought the same way as you. I don't know how many times I tried to "do it" without the surgery. I realized a long time ago that if I'd only eat 1/2 cup of food at a time I'd be able to lose all the weight on my own. Guess what? Never came close. 10 zillion diets and decades later, this was my last resort to enjoy the rest of my life (although starting exactly when, I'm not sure.)

This is a good thing and I LOVE the quote at the end of your post! We won't regret this and we'll be eating what we want again in no time. I'm a bit of a rebel and just maybe don't like being told what to eat. But like you, it's for my own sake, to reach my own goals, and I'm betting what I want to eat changes when I'm feeling so much better than I ever have. I'm also not very patient but I'm trying to be, very very hard.

And like everyone else, I'm happy to read your every whining word, , just like everyone reads mine. Complain away and keep sharing your insights and remember, a lot of very good people are promising it gets better. We just have to hang in there and believe them!
    - Peggy
