JP drain how much fluid should there be?

Just a question on this jp drain I empty it morning and night and it's always 5ml I'm 5 days post op should this be less or is this normal?

I think everyone varies. 5ml doesn't sound alarming at all.

My doctor told me it was very simple. If you drink something like coffee and coffee coloured fluid ends up in your drainage bag, then you have a leak. That is the main concern.

You are doing great. Every doctor has his / her own approach.
One said anything less than 15 would be ok for the drain to
discontinued. Actually the less excess fluid trapped in your wound
is probable the better. Do not confuse any of these replies with
anything having to do with a 'leak'.

Thanks for posting this question. I too was wondering about the amount. I was sleeved on 3-10. I remove between 25-40 ml's of fluid from my drain every 12 hours.

Ahhhh sweet relief.... Just had that drain removed today feels soo much better! Had the most sore stomach until they pulled that thing out now feels great.
