Late posting and been MIA, however; needing some accountability. Food is not my friend these days, except for maybe the "wrong" kind. I need to get a hold since it's winter, and I always seem to get "Winteritis." I am making this a new start for both writing foods and continuing exercise It's said, now it is!!

    B: usual
L: salad w/roasted chicken, red onions, swiss cheese, chick peas, red peppers, OPA Greek yogurt dressing
D: this is hard since I am facilitating my local support group and won't get home until about 8:00. Thinking about yogurt, or some pb & sf jelly on toast.
    S: WW chocolate brownie

Hope all is well with everyone!

    Hello All,
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! The leftovers! ugh!
I took one of my good friends to see my surgeon. Funny thing, as we're talking, I could tell he didn't recognize me. He said "its a funny thing about this surgery, people come in and I don't immediately recognize them because they look so good and have lost so much weight!" He said the more I talked, then he recognized who I was. I told him I was his patient advocate! The center is having a Christmas party and he gave me a flyer and told me to make sure that I come. I'm excited about that!

kenson, I bet you were very pleased with the surgeon's comment You're a great success!

I've been having some trouble with the sweets recently, but have taken back control today. NO more sweets for 10 days (at least I find I'm more successful when I set an attainable goal time limit, and don't just say, "I'm never eating sweets again." Then I do, and the old guilt feelings come back and old negative behaviors rear their ugly head...

L: packet of chipotle salmon, on chopped salad w/cheese stick
D: steak stir fry that I'm making tonight after food shopping

My plan is supposed to be three 4 oz meals a day with no snacking. When I read these posts it seems like everyone is eating way more than that. Am I missing something?

Mherrington, you're not very far along yet, and everyone's plan is different. After much trial & error everyone usually finds what works best for them and tries their hardest to stick to that plan I found in the beginning stages I couldn't eat enough protein to not eat a few small meals, and still continue with that routine. After 4 years, it's too easy to eat too many meals sometimes! Continued success with your program and reaching your goals

Mherrington, many of us on this thread are more than a year out and that has a lot to do with the amount of food we are able to tolerate. Good Luck!
    Happy Holidays everyone!

Hey Joanne, nice to see you on this thread I am also going back to basics, but never liked the protein shakes, I prefer to load up on plain greek yogurt and that's what I've been eating for breakfast and lunch this week. I will eat yogurt almost 5 out of 7 days anyway since surgery, mix it with berries (fresh) and some granola; it's always been "my go to food."
I actually walked today and ended up eating a small Gala apple w/brie. Hope all is well for you and wishing you a wonderfully happy, healthy new year!

Jerzeygirl, (feel bad because i forget your first name help me out) i also love greek yogurt with fruit. It is amazing how old needs can sneak in, you get away with it once and fool yourself. Not that i can;t have those things just make sure they are not triggering the old stuff. The old 5 up and 5 down that used to happen so easily up to now was creeping up and not coming down. Guess the body adjusts after a while so doing a reset. I think it is good to be honest so others can get a heads up.
I think you brought that up in jan. And that is what made me stop and think. Thank you i love how empowered the sleeve helps me feel. Cheers

    Morning All,
Jerzey and Joanne, I need a reset too! I know what I am doing--too many sweets--how did they creep back up into my diet? Life is difficult right now, but I am not and will not use that as an excuse to eat my sorrows! Still going to the gym, so I know that is something that is keeping the pounds at bay. I am not going to do the pouch test, but I am going to go back to having soups and a protein shake here and there. Thanks for the reminders!

Morning all! It's been a better week this past one since I've made up my mind to "go back to basics." I can feel the difference in my clothes, even though the scale isn't moving down as low as I would like. I learned to not have the scale be my "master" and move on to self-evaluation of how I've done on my program.

    B: usual
L: salad that I didn't eat yesterday because I went for a walk instead and ate an apple & brie
D: not sure because I'm going out with my husband. It will either be Chinese or some type of appetizer depending on where I choose to go on "date night."

Hope everyone has a great weekend, and see you next week. Remember, we can all do this and thanks to everyone for their support
