Hi I just had my surgery on the 3/3 and can tell you this is all normal. A vasovagal sycopy is just a fainting episode - people get them from anything from standing for too long right the way through to after experiencing surgery and the pains that go with it - so dont worry.
I started to get the diarrhea on the sunday after surgery - my bariatric nurse has told me its really common with patients until you more on to the puree part of your post op diet. Your super tired probably because of a mixture of things - anesthesia stays in your system for about 6 months after surgery (i didnt know that, but my consultant told me if I'm a bit clumsy, tired, forgetful that will be why) and also you've not had any substance yet. Once you more on the the clear fluids diet you'll start to feel better - I promise. I felt shocking the first couple of days, now I feel fine, you will too - honest!
Good luck and keep us updated x

Thanks for the support I was really starting to think oh no what was I thinking!! Today I started on the clear liquid protein drinks Isopure and I was able to take my chewable vitamins so I'm already feeling a bit better. I still have to take the pain meds about twice a day I don't like that much but when I start to hurt I can feel my heartrate and blood pressure going up so hopefully as the days go by I won't have to take it at all. But thanks again it's nice to talk to people who have experienced this.

Had surgery on 2/23, still have some tired spells, especially by the end of the day. My pain was bad the first couple of days, but I promise you that it will get better. Try to hang in there. Take the pain meds if you need to. You just had major surgery. Rest as much as you can, but make sure that you get up and walk every now and then.

I am two weeks tomorrow, and I am just now really starting to get back and fell better. Still have some soreness on the right side. Make sure you drink fluids. Don't get dehydrated, it will make you feel really bad..

Good luck. Don't gve up!! I promise it will get soooo much better..

    Surgery Date: 2/23/11

Let us know how things are in a day or two. I go in Friday and am really nervous about the first week. Good luck!

I had my surgery on a Thursday afternoon and they didn't let me out of the hospital until Sunday afternoon. The fact that you are moving around on a Wednesday after surgery on Monday is a really good sign. Nothing that is going on with you is abnormal. I went through very similar things. First week is REALLY tough, second week you start to feel ok.

I had the same thing - my back still aches from sleeping upright for 3 nights - hospital beds are so uncomfortable. I'm 5ft 7inches tall and my bed was too short for me - had my feet pushing against the end bar the whole time.
Much better to be in your own bed - being able to sleep properly does wonders
