I am on my pre op diet. This is week 3. It is not going well. I can't stop eating. I want to eat everything. Im afraid after sugery next week I will have the same feelings. Does it get better?
I am on week 2 of my pre op as well. I cant say that I am hungry all the time, but I do have urges for real food a lot. I have figured out if I drink some cold water or crystal lite and pick up a yogurt or a sugar free jello or pudding, it helps curb the need to shove something bad in my face.
I had to hunker down and stick to this if I didnt want to continue the path that I was on. You have done so much to get to where you are, just 8 days away. Dont get distracted from your goals.
Chief, I agree with you. All my life, I have experienced real hunger pains which seemed almost constant. I would eat and be full, then an hour later, I'd feel real gnawing hunger again. It was so hard to be disciplined when you are feeling that constantly.
5 weeks post op, I can tell you that I have very few feelings of hunger no matter when I last ate. I get an empty feeling when it's been hours but a true gnawing hunger doesn't really happen. And when I do feel a nagging feeling of emptiness, it takes virtually nothing to stop it. I can drink crystal light or eat a couple spoonfuls of cottage cheese and it's gone.
I feel like the loss of hunger misery is the best part of the surgery...that and the 25# I've lost.
