Any of y'all know how long I will have to wait before I can start mounting my horses again? I am to start barrel training as soon as I can... Surgery is May 30 in Mx, so I can't exactly call him up and ask...
Thnx in advance.

My doctor told me to wait 6 weeks post op before doing equestrian related activities. This was to be conservative - wanting to be sure everything is fully healed before heaving lifting (saddle), risk of fall (riding), or risk of getting yanked, bumped, pulled or pushed (risk any time you do horse stuff even though my boy is a very gentle soul). I was cleared to do less risky activities after 4 weeks. I was a band to sleeve revision so I had more healing to do then a "virgin sleever" - but I think this 4-6 week range is where most surgeons will tell people they can do more vigorous activity/riskier sports.
On a personal note, I was so weak and tired the first 4-6 weeks, I wouldn't have had the strength to do much anyway until after 6 weeks. My first ride after being off so long wore me out. Everybody is different though.
