My doctor's office gave us a plate to use or at least look at to show how much you should be eating. I'm pretty sure its the size of the smaller plates that come with a dish set that you would buy...
The pre-op diet isn't that bad. I'm on day 4 of liquids. Protein shakes, sf jello and sf popsicles are my new best friends.
I haven't drank any broth because I'm not a big fan of it.
