    Re: 8 month post-op update

Wow! You do indeed look amazing! Great job and thanks for sharing about your journey so far! :)
  2. Re: Huge burden lifted...going to Tijuana for Dr. Ariel Ortiz

Congratulations! You will be in wonderful hands with Dr Ortiz - he and his staff are amazing!!

My family wasn't 100% on board with going to Mexico either, but I handed over all my research on Dr...

    Re: Cayenne Capsules

Here's an open letter from a nutritionist to Dr Oz about his claims and raspberry ketones. I'm in the "Dr Oz is full of crap" camp. He succumbed to the national sensationalized media spotlight... :(...

    Re: Carb Counting

I have heard varying opinions on the sugar alcohols. I always used to deduct them, along with the fiber, but recently I read somewhere that sugar alcohols actually do still affect your blood sugars,...

    Re: smart phone app

Well, I'm going to be the rebel here and recommend Lose It! I like it better than Myfitnesspal simply because I'm extremely anal retentive and a perfectionist. I don't like that I am getting a...

    Re: Made Myself Sick :-(

I've been putting PB2 (powdered peanut butter) in my shakes with absolutely no issues at all. Of course, WAY less fat and sugar than regular, but it tastes exactly the same!

    Try that for a little...

Re: What is your caloric intake?

I have been averaging between 600-800 day as well, but honestly that's not what I'm counting. I'm making sure I'm getting AT LEAST 60g (pushing for 80-100g) each day and that just happens to be where...

Re: what are you doing for valentines day?

Nada! We generally don't celebrate Valentine's Day. I'm not the overly romantic type, I don't wear jewelry and I basically don't even care about receiving gifts. We both believe that you should treat...

    Re: Oops

My pre-op diet did allow for diet soda, but was also told not to drink them after. The bubbles in the carbonation can stretch your sleeve.

Re: Where do i get energy?

I, too, was feeling that way... until I got a B-12 shot. That put my energy levels at right back to normal. :)

Re: gaining weight on pre-op liquids

Actually, if you're drinking MORE water, you should be retaining LESS. Your body retains water when you're NOT drinking it, because it needs to hold on to it when in it's not coming in.

    I would...
  12. Re: How many proteins are we to take in per day

I have always heard (and this has nothing to do with the surgery) that a good amount is 1g for every pound of lean mass. So if that is correct, then 55g would be no where near enough to lose only fat...

Re: First US Consult today - AWFUL

Ugh! So sorry you had to go through that!

I just want to say that if you do end up going with Ortiz, you'll be in great hands. I can't say enough about him and his entire staff!!

    Good luck...

I think that loss is fantastic! That's averaging .42 lbs a day, which is almost 3 lbs a week! That's incredible, if you ask me!!

    Re: Eating and drinking normal

I can actually take pretty normal drinks of water already. For a former gulper (I used to slam down a good 10 oz at a time), I feel pretty normal when it comes to drinking water.

    But, like David...
