Yes, carbonation will stretch your sleeve.
I stalled completely for months 7-12 post op., which was terribly frustrating. I did keep losing inches though and then the weight lost started again w/o...

    Re: Cravings

The cravings will go away or be greatly reduced soon. I love food shows and watch them all the time. I am still interested in food and cooking even though I don't eat as much as I used to! :)

Re: How do you get enough water?

Other people may have mentioned this but make sure to count all liquids, not just water. Right after surgery sip, sip, sip, as you've heard a million times. For me, and because water passes right...

Re: At what point were you able to drink normally?

I am 5 months out and I can chug, to a point. I can proabaly drink an 8 oz. cup at a time quickly. Then I wait a few minutes and I can drink more. I only did baby sips for a few weeks, at most,...

    Re: Dumping syndrome?

I have a cheat day about once per month or less. I have had no problems at all with sugar. I don't eat large servings of it but the stuff i've eaten- a small piece of cake or a piece of chocolate,...

Re: Life after gastric sleeve and eating out

I still enjoy eating out. I do eat salads often as lettuce, when chewed, takes up almost no room for me. I order small meals or share with someone. One thing I have been doing is asking them to take...

    Re: Too much water?

You'll know if you are drinking too fast because it will HURT. If it doesn't hurt, don't worrry, liquids go through pretty fast.

I always say, "Why do you ask", with a smile. Shuts them down every time, no matter the topic of the question. I have not used that line for weight loss comments, no one has ever been negative with...

    Re: Question about "bad" foods

Many people say that you crave what you eat. Eat carbs=crave carbs, eat protein= crave protein. I was a huge carb eater pre-surgery and I craved carbs like crazy. Post surgery, I don't really think...

Re: How should I be feeling?

I stayed home for 2 weeks after surgery and napped every day. I took pain meds for the first week, slowly tapering down form 3x/day to 1x/day. I wonder if going back to work so soon was too much for...

I took pills in the hospital the day after surgery too. Applesauce/pudding can help them go down until you can take a bigger gulp.

I have low carb crackers now and then 34 degrees brand, but that's it. I still don't eat pasta or bread. I did have some mashed potatoes in the first weeks after surgery. Carbs really seem to slow my...

You don't really have to learn to do it, you just have to be mindful about it after surgery. If you want to drink now, do it. There is no need to make yourself suffer needlessly.

    Re: 30 minute rule

I do not time my eating. I eat 3 meals and infrequently have a snack btw lunch and dinner. I wait 15 minutes after drinking to eat and a minimum of 30 minutes after eating to drink.
  24. Re: Why do people seem to almost bash me for eating right and feeding my kids that way too?

Re: Why can't I drink and eat -- The Answer

The sleeve often has an upper "pouch". After surgery, the stomach kind of looks like vertical barbells: a little pouch at the top with a tube connecting it to a little pouch on the bottom.
