I'm moving to Norman in July or August and need to find a bariatric center to transfer my care to. Does anyone have recommendations?
They are closing the Riverton clinic at the end of the month and in my opinion that is a very good thing. Dr. Lewis has moved and without him there to supervise they are (in my opinion) incompetent.
I was sleeved 2/11 and I still can't drink the way I used to. Three swallows at most and I am full. But I always was able to take full sips/swallows, even in the hospital immediately after surgery.
That is awesome! Congratulations!
Talk to your doctor. I was told no caffeine but at my 6 week post-op appointment received the green light to start drinking caffeinated coffee and tea again.
If you read the peer-reviewed article I posted, it specifically addresses birth control for women who have undergone bariatric surgery.
I only addressed the "birth control doesn't work" comments...
I have not attacked or belittled you and would appreciate it if you return the favor. For each of us our doctors SHOULD ALWAYS BE the first step. My concern exists because there are a certain...
It goes back to stats - (I'm a PhD student so for me it's all about the numbers). The percentage of people who get pregnant on the pill using it correctly varies between 1 and 8% depending on the...
I believe pregnancies can happen even with the pill. My oldest son is the product of THREE forms of birth control. But avoiding the pill because someone gets pregnant is, IMO, dangerous.
Anecdotal stories are all well and good, but I prefer to base my decisions on cold hard data. No medical professionals anywhere have anything posted that I can find stating that the sleeve affects...
I'm on the pill and I know it's working because without the pill I don't have periods (I have amenorrhea). I spent hours researching the sleeve before my surgery and there was not a single medical...
I was using Bariatric Advantage sublingual spray in spearmint but I found one I like that is a meltaway. I would NOT spend extra money to spray something up my nose unless there was a reason my body...
If a doctor feels that you will not comply with part of the program (avoiding pregnancy is part of the program for most doctors) there is a possibility that whoever you are seeing will decide not to...
It's hard to know whether something can be altered without seeing it. The best thing to do is find a local person who does alterations and discuss with that individual what can be altered and what...
I'm pretty blunt. When people try to insert their opinions into my life, especially when it is someone I've never met at a store, I look them directly in the eye and say "and this is your business...
The scale this morning said 199.4 - this is the 1st time I have been below 200 lbs since I was pregnant with my 2nd son, who was born in August 2003.
I love my sleeve and am absolutely thrilled to...
Veggies are great. It's the simple carbs we need to avoid - rice, bread, pasta, etc.
Benadryl is fine post-sleeve. I was taking it for insomnia but after 6 weeks of struggle my dr switched me to lorazepam.
I struggled with only being able to go every 9 days until my doctor gave me the green light to have coffee again. Now I am quite regular.
I was not allowed to use NSAIDs for 30 days post-surgery because of bleeding risks, but I now use Ketoprofen again without issue. I was told that RnY patients cannot use them because they can burn...
It really varies. I was sleeved 2/11 and my doctor won't clear me to eat red meat until 6/11. I was on full liquids at the point the OP posted.
It depends on the person. I had amenorrhea as one of my comorbidities for my surgery - and post-surgery I still have amenorrhea. I take the pill and that can trigger a period, but even at a lower...
When I am hungry outside of meals the first thing I do is drink as much water as my stomach will allow. If I'm still feeling hungry 15-30 minutes later, THEN I prepare a healthy snack (but I also...
My favorite snack - I love it and it is very filling.
1 slice turkey lunch meat, spread with light cream cheese and squirted with a little horseradish sauce. Chop up tomato and avocado. Roll the...
