Swimming after the sleeve

Just wondering if anyone here knew how soon after the surgery you can return to the pool? Since my surgery is scheduled smack in the middle of summer and I love spending my days in our beach club pool, I am hoping I'll be able to get back in the pool before summer's end!
This is an outdoor chlorine pool.

The information I was given was 2 weeks after surgery provided you incisions are fully closed.

Wow, I was told no pool or hot tub for six weeks.

I was told no pool or hot tub for 6 weeks. I would not do anything until you know your incisions are completely healed. I am just a smidge over two weeks and I would not get into a pool or hot tub at this point. My incisions are still healing. There are other ways to enjoy the summer with out submerging your incisions in water. Walking is fun, walk into the water with just your feet, sit around a camp fire and sip water or broth. Now that sounds fun right?? hehe

I too was told six weeks because it took that long for my incisions to really heal. You run the risk of infection if you swim too soon. My surgery was in August of last year and I missed the last part of the summer. Sucked but this year I'm in the pool all the time.

Ask your doctor, I don't know. I was cleared for any exercise at 2 weeks, but maybe not swimming because of the incisions.

Incisions are the first concern, over doing it and tearing the staples is the second. Ask your Dr. but I would say based on everything I have heard and what my Dr. told me...4-6 weeks minimum before you swim. I am 6 weeks post op today and getting in the pool starting tomorrow!

My surgeon said 4 to 6 weeks. I just started week 5 and they released me to swim based on the way my incisions are healing.

Mine said 2.5 weeks and I had complications after my surgery. He did tell me to take it slow at first. Eventually was doing 2 miles and loving it!

I was able to swim in week 4. As long as incisions healed over no probs but do go gentle at first. You don't feel any pain while in the pool (it was only place that I actually didn't get nausea so was in for hours lol) but you may experience pain around incisions after it. Not the incisions themselves but near them - and I believe it's the muscles that were probed and prodded during surgery. It does get better but do take it easy at first.x

I was sleeved on 7/28 and when I asked my dr about exercise and swimming he was adamant about 4-6 weeks preferably 6 for swimming and 4 for treadmill more than 30 min, hope this helps good luck
