I want to have my surgery done in Mexico. As soon as we raise the money here at home (in a few months) I'll be making the date official. My question is....I live in Georgia...do I have to have a passport or just birth certificate and drivers license? Also, any advice on which doctor I should choose if I want a doctor who will give me a tight sleeve. I've heard of people having to have it re done and that's just not something I want to go through. Right now I've been looking into Dr.A in Tiajana(however that's spelled) Any advice and suggestions are welcomed! Thanks

I went across with just my DL an birth certificate, your BC needs to be the original tho. My surgeon was Dr. Almanza however, you should do homework on each surgeon before you choose one.

Passport is 100%, absolutely, positively, don't leave home without it unless you want to be a Mexican citizen, requirement. Must have it. The good old days of birth certificates are over.

As for a doctor, there are an excellent group to select from. I had Dr Ismael Cabrera and would recommend him to anyone that will listen to me. I have had zero complications.

Its not advised to take the chance, they can detain you. Pass port card is preferred. Loved my doctor lopez

You do not NEED passport. ..but it will shorten the time crossing back into the states ... you have plenty of time ....so at least apply for the passcard ... you NEED passport if flying in and out of mexico ...but you will most likely fly into san diego ... my dr was dr almanza! ! Love him!

Yeah I forgot to say ill be landing in California and then driving not flying into Mexico

Just got back from my surgery in Mexico. You must have passport. As you cross back to California from Mexico, the guards will ask for passport only!!! I used Dr. Alejandro Lopez at Mi Hospital. He was wonderful and the facility was very clean. Nurses all spoke English and really knew their stuff!

Ok so it sounds like I need to be safe and have a passport. So...how do you get a passport nowadays? I have one that's expired and I know things have changed....

Again you dont need( I live in san diego ). The driver's ask before crossing if you have one. There are different lines.. but anyway.... you can get them . USPS.Com... and I believe there are links here on this site. Try to google your area for places near you

I just was sleeved on March 6th with Dr. Almanza, and although I DO travel with a passport, I can confirm that you don't HAVE to have one. 4 people in my vehicle were easily cleared with original birth certificates.

The weight loss agency that hooked me up with dr almanzo's info said a birth certificate and license was enough....so I sure hope it is

Secret blonde, if you live in Southern California, thats could be why...may be code on your liscence due to being in a border state. its not hard to get the information regarding the topic online, its not worth being detained. The requirements are clear and state that upon entering the United States you will have to provide it.
