unhappy
I was excited today to go to the medical dr which ive never seen but I needed a medical clearance as soon as I told him what I needed and what I wanted to do . he said well I don't agree with weight loss surgery they are very expensive they don't work. it might help at first but you will gain it back . the only way to lose weight is dieting no carbs lean meats veg and fruit anything in a can bag box you don't eat restaurants are a no .anything I said about a diet he said it dosent work .its a mind thing if you want to lose the weight then set your mind and your heart. you will lose. but the whole time im thinking and you only weigh about 120 pounds.i did say I bet you can eat anything you want and not gain. no he eats meat veg and fruit.so as he says you don't need to have your inside cut up. but if that's what you want to do then we can make another apt for the clearance. I just wanted out of there. people with no weight problems just don't get it!! this decision is hard enough I don't need to hear why do you want to cut yourself up and have the risks. so today sucked bad!

Re: unhappy
I am sorry so have had that experience but with that said, I have one question ..... When you thought about what he said, did it make you change your mind about why you are having this surgery? I am told I am a Pollyanna.....those that have seen the movie know what that is,
I see the glad in most things. The reason I ask the question is that every time I am faced with someone who is pessimistic of a decision I have made, it further challenges me to examine why I am doing something and how strong I believe in my decision. If your belief in your decision becomes stronger than you know it is right, if your belief in the decision becomes weaker than it may not be right, right now but later. Normally I also become scarabs tic and say, "thank you, I have never thought about that but now that YOU have said that it further strengthens my belief that I am making the right decision for ME and I don't expect anyone else to understand.
Warm hugs and best wishes on your journey, whether it continues today or tomorrow, your decision will be right for you.

Re: unhappy
remember he is only providing you a service that you are paying for, maybe ask your bariatric surgeon if he can give you the name of a good doctor, doctors are only people getting paid for the service they provide, who cares if he doesn't agree with it, it's your body not his, either he can help you or he can't, just be strong and straight forward with doctors, I have found I get much better results that way. good luck to you . remember it's what you think and what you want that's important because we are the ones who have to be happy in our own skin.

Re: unhappy
UGH. That stinks and I am sorry you had that experience. I agree with what others have said- find a new Dr. Maybe someone on here is in your area and could recommend someone? Don't be discouraged, keep on going! :)

Re: unhappy
My doctor was behind my decision 100% He was in shock that my insurance refused to pay for the surgery.

Re: unhappy
i find it strange how some doctors are idiots! diabetes, stroke and heart attacks are the biggest killers of obese ppl, you suffer a LOT before dying also. I work in a hospital and see a lot. I had the surgery to help me loose because i have been on the roller coaster diet for 25 years. I wanted to finally loose this weight and keep it off. This tool is the most successful i have seen ever. I know ppl that would never have lost this much weight and kept it off any other way. you educate yourself, get the best surgeon you can afford and move forward! good luck

Re: unhappy
His way works - to be sure - but is it sustainable???? That's the question you need to ask yourself.

Re: unhappy
I hope he at least gave you the clearance after all of that BS!

Re: unhappy
I always look out side the box... that being said most of the regular Doctors don't like it because Obese people put food on Doctors table too. They get to push the new and exciting pills for all of the high blood pressure, Diabetes and so on pills that are coming out on obese and the older folk. Also do you think you would go to the Regular doctor as much if you where a healthy weight? not needing all those pills anymore.... Not needed to see the regular doctor for anything else but a check up here and there? I had a doctor tell me he didn't like what I wanted. I never went back to him again. Your Doctor should have your back not be a debbie downer and say your going to fail... Right there I would have stopped hearing everything they had to say and started thinking of how to change him.
If you really do want this you have to make it happen. Put the right people on your right path. Don't let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn't do. Only you know what you and your body needs. If you don't like a Doctor Change them. THEY WORK FOR YOU
I wish you nothing but happiness, Cheer up its just a bump in the road not the end of it.;)
