Any regrets??
Has anyone ever regretted getting this procedure done? I'm 4 months post surgery and I'm really starting to have a nervous breakdown. I really thought I was going to feel great after having this surgery and I actually feel like crap most of the time.
I'm taking vitamins, getting between 70-80g of protein a day and I'm even exercising. I'm so tired of having headaches and having no energy. I go to bed most nights regretting that I've done this to myself.
Does anyone ever feel like this?

Re: Any regrets??
I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so bad. Have you discussed this with your Doctor?

Re: Any regrets??
I felt like that in the begining and on bad days, what are your headaches from?
What do you feel like you are missing out on the most?
Have you talked to your doctor?

Re: Any regrets??
That really sucks... I can't offer advice on the sleeve part since mine is this Monday. I am going to give advice based strictly on the fact you have no energy and lots of headaches.
Chiropractor for the headaches and acupuncture for the energy.
Let me just say Chiropractors are not Quacks and acupuncture does not hurt ...at all.
I hate needles. I am thee biggest baby, in fact I even got whoosie once just talking about them.:eek::eek:
So try them out... most insurances cover them but if not, they are not that expensive. Also you will feel the difference in just a few visits if not the very first one.

Re: Any regrets??
Alfonso, Look how far you have come in those 4 months, I mean look at your ticker, OVER HALF way already. Firstly CONGRATULATIONS just for that.
Learning to eat when what and how much can all get a bit frustrating at times but well worth it.
Headaches are never any fun and having no energy is horrible. Perhaps have a good talk to your dietician, Dr, or family Dr and suggest a blood test to see if you are lacking in something, could be as simple as one essential mineral lacking or may just need a small adjustment to your diet.
Try and See the good parts so far while you keep an eye on your depression which you can't ignore. YOU sure have done a good job on your weight loss so far.
hugs and happy thoughts from me :):):):):)

Re: Any regrets??
Hi Fiesty,
Yes, I have talked to my doctor(s), both my primary and the surgeon. The surgeon said I'm having too much sugar in my smoothies. I've tried having a Gladiator w/ no fruit and they are really gross. So I decided to check w/ my primary. After explaining everything to her, she came to the conclusion that the primary reason for my headaches is that I'm not getting enough fluids. I was telling her that it is so hard to get in the fluids when it takes me all morning to sip on my smoothie (which has 30g of protein) and all afternoon to sip on my Isopure (which has 40g of protein). And then when I get home, there's just not enough time in the day to get down another 64 oz of water. Its just frustrating and stressful to try and figure out how to handle all of this. I am so thirsty and want to get the water down, but as you know, we can't "just do that" anymore, everything has to be "sipped" or we get sick. I'll keep trying though, I have to figure something out.

Those are some great suggestions, thanks! Good luck w/ your surgery on Monday! Keep us posted!

Re: Any regrets??
I know this probably sounds a bit lame, but I find sugar free icicles ( ice-lollies) a total boost. I can get that extra little fluid in without feeling I am having to force something down. Hope you get a remedy for your problem. My heart goes out to you xxx

Re: Any regrets??
Hi Sandy,
Thanks for all your wonderful words, I really appreciate it! I will ask my doctor to review the blood work results w/ me the next time I go to the doctor. I know I've come a long way weight wise, but I really feel like its starting to take a toll on me emotionally. I didn't know I was going to have these kinds of thoughts. I thought it would be a walk in the park. But I'm really happy that I came across this website and see that there are lots of people out there going through the same things I am. This is an awesome tool!

Re: Any regrets??
As I was reading your post, I was wondering about your fluid intake and if that was causing it. Later post said it likely was. It's hard to get enough liquids in, I know. I long for the days when I could just guzzle down a cool glass of water! But we can't! I am now able to take bigger gulps an get my liquid down quicker so that I can wait the required time to eat before and after. I am 5 months post op. Thankfully I have not had headaches and my energy level is good for the most part, but I have had constipation and lethargy when my fluid level is down. It is a real balancing act. I hope you are feeling better soon and able to enjoy your weight loss journey.

Re: Any regrets??
I also find that sipping through a straw is easier and I can get more in a little more quickly. You could try that.

Re: Any regrets??
Hi,
First I would get blood work analysis, I would assume that you were not having these issues pre surgery so the headache / tiredness may be caused from dehydration, if you are having problems staying hydrated, there are a heap of hydrating drinks on the market, at this stage you do not need to be looking at calories / sugar / sodium etc., you just need to get hydrated and see if this resolves the problem, even if it means not eating for a couple of days, remember fluids are absorbed through the gut and into the bloodstream faster when their osmolality closely matches that of body fluids such as blood. Sports drinks contain dissolved minerals (sodium, etc.) and carbohydrates, whereas water doesn't, so water doesn't reach the bloodstream as quickly.
Hope this helps!:)

Re: Any regrets??
Hi Scotty,
Thanks so much for the suggestions! I will try some of those drinks. And you're right, I'm not counting calories right now. When I told the dietician what smoothies I was drinking, she said those have more calories than the ones they suggest. I told her I really didn't care at this point. I told them if you want me to put protein in my body, this is the way its going to be. Lets just say they weren't too happy about that...oh well. Sometimes I wonder if they "really know" what we're going through.
