Re: Blood Pressure too Low
I wouldnt take the bp meds anymore
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
I think that is a bit low. You are right to call your doctor. It sounds like she is weening your off your BP meds. You may be ready to be completely off those meds now. Good luck!
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
I would not listen to anyone about this but your Doctor. :) No one is qualified on here to give you advice on here with something that serious.
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
Your blood pressure is too low, call your doctor today!
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
Rebecca50 is absolutely right...your physician is/should be the only persons who's advice matters with something as important as blood pressure. The main reason I had VSG was to lose weight to control my blood pressure...so I keep a serious eye on this. My bp is usually 90/60 first thing in the morning and then goes up a little after I get my day started. I freaked out a little and my physician assured me I was ok...I would just circle back with my doctor to make sure...good luck!
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
Yes...call your doctor especially if you are getting dizzy when you stand up! Call ASAP!! Keep us posted
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
ValGal, Its ok to ask us about this, that's what we are here for! Yes go to your Dr. It is common to have low blood pressure, because it is easy to get dehydrated. Dehydration will make my blood pressure drop that low, and so try to drink more and especially Gatorade for the added electrolytes or pedia-lyte. Sounds like you are being treated by your Dr. Glad you put the call in! If your Blood pressure is dropping so low because you are dehydrated, your Dr. will probably test your potassium levels too they can get off and this can be a serious problem. Also keep in mind when your blood pressure is this low you are not circulating enough oxygen to your brain and this can make you weak and dizzy. You may be able to drink enough to get your volume back up, but sometimes you just need to get IV fluids. Let us know how it goes with your Dr. Hope you feel better soon, Love Rainbow
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
Thank you everyone. The support here is amazing. I spoke with my PC doc and she took me off the last of my BP meds. I will be tracking my blood pressure every day to make sure it doesn't creep back up. At the end of the month, my surgeon is doing a blood test for vitamin and nutrition levels. I'm well covered by good physicians. I was really wondering if this might be a common thing as the weight comes off and the medications are modified or eliminated.
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
Yes it is common! And the Dehydration is common! By the end of the year when i had lost the weight my Dr, was SO happy that all my numbers (blood sugars, blood-pressure, cholesterol,ect..) were NORMAL! No more type 2 diabetes! My Blood pressure will still drop low 96/55 when i get dehydrated but i have learned to watch it closer and bring it back up myself with Gator-aid and diligence! Another thing you will notice is that you will feel colder! I freeze! It is because you are loosing all your extra insulation and your thermometer is still set for your heavy size! It takes a couple years for your body to get used to it. Even then you still feel colder more then you used to. Take care, Rainbow
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
I was wondering if everyone is as cold as I feel now. I actually freeze and so badly, my fingers get white and hurt. The doctor said Raynauds Disease is common after WLS. I wear a sweater when it's warm, and sleep w/a comforter even now. When I was heavier, I'd sleep w/the ceiling fan on in the winter and hardly any covers. My husband teases that "an alien took away his wife, and left me in her place". I have to wear some type of sweater in work now that the air-conditioner is on and people look at me funny since they're used to me being hot before. I have to admit, I don't like being so cold, but it's a small price to pay :) I, too, am off all my meds and my blood pressure is perfect everytime it's taken. Continued success everyone!
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
Wow! I am colder than I was! It's steamy in the south and I usually suffer in the summer. Not this year! How great is that!! Did you have problems drinking water. It feels like it doesn't go down right and it gets stuck -- sorta. I can drink Sobe lifewater. It has just a little more body than regular, plain water (bottled or tap) and slides down smoothly. As a result, I'm not drinking like I used to. I push to get 40-48 oz. a day. I used to drink a minimum of 64 oz. of water. ???
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
I had problems in the beginning, but now that I can drink a little faster; it's easier. I do like Vitamin Water Zero and suppliment with that. I usually only get 40-50 ozs. a day of water type beverages and in the beginning it was so hard that I developed a very bad UTI. I had fevers, and had to take strong medicines. I learned that I try to get in as much as possible. You seem to be doing great and I know you're going to love this journey!
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
I have a hard time with plain cold water too. i like the Vitamin water zero also and diet gatorade. If i drink plain water i do it hot like tea, and can get more down faster. I know it is crazy that now i can drink it faster hot then cold! I find it greatly helpful when i do drink cold things to use a straw, it helps me to sip smaller because i want to gulp and if i gulp too big, i throw up!
Re: Blood Pressure too Low
Morning, Rainbow!
Hmmmm... So, maybe I'm not totally crazy. My surgeon has stressed "No straws, no chewing gum". Apparently both put air down the tummy. Do you know which artificial sweetener the Vitamin Zero Water uses?
