Has anyone tried chewing food but not swallowing it just to get flavor ?
I have done it....with steak. And it tasted sooooo good.
Absolutely, I love a good steak but my belly can't tolerate it, so chew and spit it is.
Tiny piece of toasted rye bread for me. Just wanted to taste the flavor in my mouth.
i was wondering when someone would fess up to chewing and spitting lol i thought i was the only one
Oh my goodness. I did it and it felt so good.
Oh yeah! It was so sad, during the liquid phase. It was a Triscuit, for goodness sakes. Wanted regular food so bad, THAT tasted like a steak...
Nope -- I want that food in my tummy! I am all about trying to conquer cravings. I have heard about people doing that though. I understand the temptation but wonder if it is setting up an unnatural relationship with food. What do you think?
Hugs
Yep been there done that!!! especially during my pre op liquid diet and post op liquid diet ....
I haven't had a sleeve yet (will have surgery Tuesday) so I have a dumb question...
Are you chewing and spitting it so you don't get the calories, or are you doing it because your new tummies won't tolerate it?
Thanks for the info!
Did it after the third day of surgery. I knew my tummy couldnt handle it. I didn't care about calories. It was potato chips and I posted it in July after my surgery.
So funny! Yes, day 5 post op I made my son little cheese smoked sausages and it smelled soooooooo good I popped one in my mouth and chewed it until it was tasteless and spit it out!
Heck I'm on pre-op now and I did it today! A piece of bread with my clear liquid soup lol. I felt rediculous but it worked!
5 days out. I took a small bite of steak. Chewed the heck out of it and swallowed it. I tolerated it fine. Makes me nervous.
I did it around 3 weeks out with a pc of steak. I knew I wasn't ready for solids and especially for solids that dense. I just love meat and I was missing the feeling of chewing. 1 teensy pc did the trick and took away the craving. I didn't give one whit about the calories.
