Been a month since I had my sleeve done and my hair keeps falling out. I'm Puerto Rican so I have a head full of hair so at first it wasn't a problem I thought it would just stop after a few weeks but it hasn't. Is this normal?!? Will it stop falling out or is there something I can take to help it??
I was told that it happens to some people, and not to others, and you can't predict if it will be you. I was also told that making sure your protein and supplements are up is the best you can hope to do, and just reminding yourself that it's temporary.
I started losing hair about 3 months out (maybe a little longer) and it stopped around 6-7 months out. Luckily, I started with massive hair and I actually like it a little thinner!
I was told that protein and zinc deficiencies are the two most common "preventable" reasons, but i lost hair even with very adequate blood work. Some people just have it happen due to the "shock" of the surgery and weight loss.
I was also told that if it continues beyond the first 12 months, it is most likely a deficiency and should be looked into.
Bad news is that this will likely be a problem for you for awhile, but it is temporary.
Mine has been falling out for months. It started about 5 months post op and now I'm 9 months post op. It's so bad that now I'm buying a wig. I already had fine thin hair. :( Yes, I'm taking suppliments and using Nioxin shampoo and treatments. Getting 60+ grams protein a day. Nothing works. Hope it stops soon.
