Acne???
I am 2 days away from surgery and I want to know has anyone noticed major breakouts as the weight comes off?
about 4 years ago i lost 100 on my own ( and have kept it off ) but i can not seem to loose the other 150. But as i lost all that weight i felt like i was going threw puberty again. my face broke out a lot and i got emotional like my hormones were adjusting.
has this happened to any one on here after surgery?

Re: Acne???
It could be from the shots they give us to reduce clotting which affects the hormones. Hope it clears quickly for you. =0)

Re: Acne???
I havent had ANY skin problems. My skin is really better than it ever has been. I've only lost 41 lbs so far though. I cant eat much at a time but when i do eat i try to eat healthy. Its not always possible with my busy schedule but I still try to balance it out throughout the day. I am not getting more than 600 calories per day though.

Re: Acne???
Don't sweat the small stuff..... enjoy the journey, acne will come and go throughout your life.... if in doubt see a good Dermatologist.

Re: Acne???
I know rapid weight gain can cause a hormonal imbalance so I imagine the reverse can be true. It should level out eventually but its worth mentioning to your dr. If he gives you any info please share with us, we like to know everything!

Re: Acne???
I am 4 weeks out and I am one week late and have acne that I have never had before. I was wondering the same thing! It's not horrible, but I was wondering if it was from hormonal changes! Thanks for commenting.

Re: Acne???
I got a rash on face immediately after surgery and went to see a dermatologist a week after being sleeved. She didnt prescribe me anything (because rash didnt itch) and she had me use over the counter cetaphil. She said that because of the surgery, my skin will go through changes over the next year and to expect it, but everything will come and go. Well, she was right and now my skin has pretty much cleared up and looks better than pre-surgery. Yes, see a dermatology but remember that the skin is the largest body organ and will be affected, but all this is minimal compared to the amazing journey we are going through. Good luck!

Re: Acne???
Some people react oddly to anesthesia too... It can cause your hair texture to change as well, so I bet skin changes are similar. Diet changes definitely can do a number on your skin. Be sure to eat healthy food, keep/start a good skin and hair care routine (this is a good time to make over your whole life and how you take care of yourself!). You dont want to end up losing all the weight but have dull hair and sallow skin! And there is no reason to end up that way if you take good care throughout the process, focussing on both what you are putting IN your body and ON your body.

Re: Acne???
My skin actually looks better than it has in years, and I while part of that may be eating healthy and no more cokes, I also believe my Rodan & Fields skin regime is AWESOME. I love love love it!

Re: Acne???
I didn't have any issues with acne but about midway through my weight loss the hormones did go haywire. I am 53, had not had a hot flash in 5 years or so but they are back now (insert sarcastic 'yippee' here). They have since leveled off so they aren't so bad but I do still have them every now and then .

Re: Acne???
actually i have been a pimply adult and have used proactiv for years to battle it. right now skin is more clear then ever. i wonder if maybe you are releasing toxins that have been stored in your body for years and the restart of the surgery is allowing them to flow out . just an idea
