Re: Munchies
Congrats on your weight loss! You are doing great!
Can you find a snack that you like that is not high in calories? I like to go back to broth. It taste good and it's low in fat and calories.

Re: Munchies
I often have cravings around TOM, usually one week before. I mostly crave sweets, so I would have one square of dark chocolate but only after I had protein first (one boiled egg for example) or protein and veggie, then the chocolate. Having only dark, because the taste is so strong it prevents me from having more.
But I also had crazy cravings when my iron was too low. I had anemia before the sleeve and it got worth post op, even with all the supplements I take. I learned a few weeks ago that because of my numerous health issues (IBS, anemia etc) my supplements should have had a higher dose (like double the iron) since day one. When my iron level is fine I do have less cravings, but it's still there around TOM unfortunately..

Re: Munchies
When I am craving something sweet I either have a sugar free popsicle or a chocolate protein shake. I have been fortunate enough to not have any strong cravings so far. I am 10 weeks post op.

Re: Munchies
My cravings have stopped since I had my surgery and I'm watching carbs. If I'm really in the mood for something crunchy, like a chip, I microwave two slices of turkey bacon until crispy. Works for me every time!

Re: Munchies
You can microwave some pepperoni slices and they're little crunchy salty meat chips. Use LOTS of paper towels cause the amt of fat that comes out of those suckers is amazing!
Whisps are Parmesan chips, no carbs, good protein.
you can bake or pan fry a slice of cheese till crispy. If you bake them, you can make a whole cookie sheet full, if you pan fry, it's just one or two pieces. Provolone is what I like best.
as you can see, my munchies are usually for crunchy salty, and sometimes chocolate. For choc, I eat one square of 70% chocolate.
the key to staying "on plan" is to PLAN. You gotta have these things readily available when the craving hits or you'll end up eating something you'll regret.Attachment 26598

Re: Munchies
Carrots dipped in hummus
Jicama chopped up chip size with salsa
Low fat greek yogurt
Sugar-snap peas that come all cleaned in a little bag at Walmart
Cuties
Or sometimes just a cup of herbal tea is all I need.

Re: Munchies
how about a sugar free chocholate ice cream bar? or skinny cow or weight watchers kind? Maybe some jerky if you like salty?
