Stomach Stretching with Water?
I figured I might as well put it out here to be answered instead of constantly worrying about it. Am I going to stretch my stomach by drinking too much water? I want to drink all the time but I try to limit myself to an ounce every 15 minutes or so except around meals. This is not a perfect science for me and I end up thirsty and frankly constipated. Am I concerned for nothing or is this something I'm right to be worried about?
Re: Stomach Stretching with Water?
I have wondered the same thing because I cannot drink a lot at once, and now I am able to drink more. I think if you gulp down an entire bottle of Crystal Geyser in one go, that would not be a good thing, but once you feel it's gone down, lots of water should be OK. It goes right through us.

No problem. Goes right through you.
Re: Stomach Stretching with Water?
Being able to drink more means your stomach is healing as it should and the swelling is going down more and more. My doctor said not to worry about drinking because it goes through the stomach. The thing that might stretch your new stomach is eating more the 4 oz of food at a time, especially solid foods. All of our stomachs will "relax" as the months go on, allowing us to eat up to the 4 oz of food but the great part of the surgery is the restriction. There's no way you'll be able to take in more food. What might put weight back on some people or that might slow the weight loss down is if they consume the slider type foods that are high in calories but low in nutrition, such as real milk shakes, ice cream, things like that.
Take it one day at a time, don't think you can't drink your fluids like you used to. Eventually, you will. I drink faster now but I still don't gulp like I used to and never will again.
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Good question...thanks for asking!
Re: Stomach Stretching with Water?
Just a thought: It's recommended to drink 64 oz of water a day. That means you have to drink 8 oz every hour for eight hours. So that means 2 oz every 15 minutes. You're going along great! :)
Re: Stomach Stretching with Water?
Hi, I had my sleeve done about 16 months ago and have passed my intented weight lost. Wanted to loose 125 lbs. but have lost 132 lbs. up to date. I drank tons of water a day. The only real restrictions are carbonated beverages....they will definitely stretch your new stomach. The bubbles in carbonated drinks are what does it....sounds silly but is very true. Good luck on your journey. The best choice I have ever made in my life.

I'm glad you mentioned that Janet because I've gone back to diet soda even though it doesn't even taste good. Just a habit. I'm done with it as of today. Thanks. :)
