I have no energy!!!
I am just 2 days post op all I have been doing all day is snoozing. Well it's not the pain medicine because I haven't had any since 0830 this am. I have been sipping on my Premier Protein drink and water. IS THIS NORMAL??? I'm just taking it easy!! Did anyone else feel like this?? I drank some broth from my chicken noodle soup so I won't dehydrate. ;). I need to turn this TV off I keep seeing these commercials about CHICKEN WINGS at this restaurant !!!! OMG THEY LOOK SOOOOOO GOOOOD RIGHT ABOUT NOW!!!! ;)

Re: I have no energy!!!
hmm. at 2 day I was snoozing on the couch all the time and getting up to use the bathroom or just to walk a bit. I was also told no protein shakes and I don't think I even got to them till liquids. With the tv situations for me to avoid commercials I went to the library and borrowed a bunch of DVDs.

Re: I have no energy!!!
For the first 2 or 3 days I napped a lot. I tried watching movies, but I kept sleeping through them. I didn't notice how often food was showed on tv until I couldn't eat it. I watched my Duck Dynasty dvd's and every episode ends with them eating a big dinner. lol

Re: I have no energy!!!
I was still in the hospital on day 2... Rest is a good idea... You have to heal. Stick to the protein and water. Give yourself time. My doc wants us drinking 60 to 90 grams protein a day. It's healing, and you shouldn't get hungry. Remember, your gut wall was cut into and a part of you removed. You have insides that need to heal.

Re: I have no energy!!!
Hello Happy loser....i am 3 days post op and have taken 2 3 hour naps today after sleeping (mostly) for 12 hours last night. I think it is fine to feel low energy...virtually no carb intake for days, MAJOR surgery with anesthesia, etc etc....you are fine, just listen to your body and don't overdue it. Within the first 12 hours post op-they wanted me to walk one lap around the nurses station/offices..I did 18!...I felt like I could do it (and I did) but the next day I felt like crap because I simply overdid it. Today much better yet still quite tired. Hang in there! Remember the big picture and turn the TV off! :)

I think it's normal. I napped every day for the first 2 weeks.

Re: I have no energy!!!
Don't worry it's the anesthesia - it takes a few days to clear your system. Use your incentive spirometer ( the device they should have given you in the hospital to get you to take deep breaths post op) it will help you clear the inhaled anesthesia given to you. Try and drink water or Gatorade and pee the drugs out of your system as well! Trust me I've had a couple of surgeries and I was in a sleepy haze for a good 48-72 hours! Best of luck and speedy recovery!

Re: I have no energy!!!
Very normal, dear. Let your body rest (it's what it needs to do to repair and fix) and you'll be fine eventually.
