Hiatal Hernia after surgery
I had surgery on September 26, 2014. I had continued nausea since the surgery. After three months they scoped my stomach and did a contrast exray. They found a hiatal hernia. I am now at month 4 and the nausea continues. My doctor is now saying the hernia is causing the severe nausea and must be repaired. Has anyone experienced this?
Re: Hiatal Hernia after surgery
when I was scoped prior to the surgery they found that I had a hiatal hernia. They didn't repair it. A few hours after the surgery I started vomiting. They kept for the first three days. I went home the fourth day. I randomly get git with wicked nausea but not frequent like your describing. Are they going to have to do surgery? Does Zofran help for now? They gave me tigersomething ??? A shot in the thigh when Zofran didn't work. How terrible to be nauseous for so long. I hope that goes away soon!!
Re: Hiatal Hernia after surgery
I still have the nausea and am planning to have surgery on March 3rd to repair the hernia. Yes, I tried everything for the nausea, nothing helped.
Re: Hiatal Hernia after surgery
My surgeon checked out my hiatal valve during VSG surgery and repaired it as well.
He said it's common to repair a hiatal hernia during the surgery.
Good luck to you.
Re: Hiatal Hernia after surgery
I had two that had to be repaired when I had my tummy tuck last month. Not sure if it was related to the sleeve
Re: Hiatal Hernia after surgery
Sue, I think you probably had two abdominal hernias repaired along with your tummy tuck ... right?
Re: Hiatal Hernia after surgery
I did have the surgery 2 weeks ago. I wasn't easy. However, I still have nausea. I'm so disgusted. I am really second guessing my decision having the surgery.
Re: Hiatal Hernia after surgery
I've had nausea for years and years, it's how my reflux presents. They told me i had a hiatal hernia before surgery but my surgeon said it wasn't there when he did the sleeve (which he said is common). Right after the sleeve, I was nauseous, vomiting for days and spent 2 extra days in the hospital, it was awful, I was so worried I damaged the sleeve. They gave me Zofran, a shot of something I can't remember the name of, and Marinal. I was sent home with prescriptions for Marinal and Zofran but the only thing that's really helped is going back on Omeprazole, which I was hoping to avoid. I take 20 mg in the morning and on occasion, another later in the day.I hope you feel better soon!
