    Robinette,

I have the same surgery date, although I will be having mine in Ky and not Mexico. Post and let me know how you're doing after your surgery. I can't imagine having surgery and having to go to school. I'll be going back to work the next week and I'm already dreading the return.

  6. HI Patty,

Your school sounds wonderful. I'm a VP for a LARGE urban high school. I was in the middle school when I planned and booked my surgery and I would have been comfortable telling a couple key people....but now I've been shuffled up to the HS where I don't know ANYONE and am not comfortable at all having this conversation. Our Pre-Planning starts the 20th as well and the kids come the 27th. I actually have to RUN the Pre-planning inservces....while consuming only liquids....I'm missing one afternoon of meetings, then the day of my surgery is a "clerical" day....teachers can work in their rooms, etc....then Friday there is no school....so in terms of scheduling, it's not too bad. And the day I come back is not too bad either, in terms of what I must do....oh well, it can't be helped. I'm doing this with my sis, who lives very close by. My son will be a great help at home...it's just school that is the big question mark. Lucky you with such a great support system at school....I miss the kids, sounds like our kids are similar....although mine are not labeled at all....the city/urban thing provides great challenges and I love it too.

Get some rest...good luck on your big day and keep me posted as to how you feel.

  7. Hi robinette!

Thanks for sending me a message. YES! I am so excited about my surgery this Friday!
I work in a very small private school for kids with learning issues. I teach reading to middle and high schoolers. Because of the nature of my students, it is a VERY demanding job, but I love it. Call me crazy.

I have told everyone in my little school. Because it is small, they would notice something is up. Everyone is being so supportive. Two girls I have, sisters, have a mom who had this surgery last year. They are REALLY excited for me. My principal has friends who have done this and she is already looking out for me. I have to move to a new room and while I am in the hospital, she is going to move my stuff for me. Actually move it. We don't have a big staff to do this kind of stuff. ( Thank goodness I packed my room in boxes at the end of the year!)

So, your surgery is on the 23rd? i know you are excited, too. I think I would tell some people at school. You might need some support since you will be heading back to the classroom in only four days. Are you skipping pre-planning?

Pre starts on the 20th for me and the kids come on the 27th. I will keep you posted!

    Very Best Wishes!

    Patty

I don't recognize my clothes!

by robinette on 04-02-2013 at 04:55 PM
This is fabulous however at 87 pounds lost and all of my clothes donated to the goodwill and all new clothes in my closet it's very odd getting dressed in the morning. I lie in bed and try to plan what to wear but the things I remember are not there. I have needed and purchased so many new things that I don't even recognize what is in there. It's so much crazy fun to wear cute new things in the smaller size. Just got a pair of jeans yesterday in a 12 petite! Real jeans with a button and

.2 pounds to go to the next milestone

by robinette on 12-19-2012 at 05:01 AM
So close. I'm .2 pounds away from losing a total of 70 pounds! When I started this journey with my sister back in August we dreamed of maybe losing 50 pounds by Christmas. Well....I'm close to 70 gone and she is just over 60 pounds lost! We never imagined it would be this wonderful. We have both had no issues. We can eat a tiny bit of whatever we want. With the holiday goodies on every counter at work, we don't beat ourselves up if we have a bit of cookie or other treat. We're still steadily

carb addiction over!

by robinette on 11-15-2012 at 08:51 PM
Let me tell you a little simple something. I have had a love affair with carbs...any kind of potato, bread, chips, pasta. I never met a carb I couldn't enjoy in excess.

Today was the traditional, yearly turkey and fixins lunch at work. I knew I would NEVER eat it all but wanted to try to taste the various yummies. I figured I would eat bits of it for several days.

Not gonna lie, it was all yummy, especially the potato filling (a Pennsyvania Dutch staple). I

happy update

by robinette on 11-09-2012 at 05:04 AM
Although I don't post as often, I read updates everyday. Think it's time for one from me. Surgery on August 23 with Dr. Almanza. Just over 58 pounds down. I had set my original goal of 100 pounds lost but now I'm thinking about moving it to 120. So either way, I halfway there.

This is the most wonderful thing I've done for myself. I did this with my sister and she is having just as much success...(her weight loss is just a tiny bit slower but she didn't have as much to lose

Stay safe my sleever friends in Sandy's path

by robinette on 10-29-2012 at 05:35 AM
I live in PA, near Philly and spent the last couple days getting ready for this storm. What a difference in my grocery bill after filling up my cart with non-peirshable essentials. I was so aware of what I would have "needed" prior to my sleeve. Chip are non-perishable, right? Not this time, no chips in my cart...cans of chilli with beans and other healthy things. I think my son was dissapointed to not see the standard pre-storm goodies, however, he smiles at me and tells me how proud
