You're so right. Thinking too much gets us in all kinds of trouble!! Let me know how your liquid diet goes!

I did Atkins as well and lost over 30 pounds. BUT - as soon as I got off of it, I gained it back plus some. Very discouraging. I'm with you - I'm not looking to resemble a movie star, but I do want to be healthy and be able to get around a whole lot easier!

Hang in there, Hockeymom! I don't have family support either, except for my daughter-in-law and niece, who are both being sleeved sometime this year as well. In fact, if my family knew I was going to Mexico to have surgery, they'd be on the first plane to come and hog-tie me! Your husband will change his mind when he sees the difference in you as a person, both physically and emotionally. I think we can't help but feel better about ourselves if we can actually lose some weight FOR GOOD!

Oh WOW! I remember you said you needed your date sooner than Feb 17... and look at you! Feb 8th! That's just around the corner! How's your nerves?

I have been doing a liquid protein diet with one lean and green meal per day for the last month. I've lost 25 lbs. The Dr says I can continue to doing the same thing right up until surgery. I'm planning to do only liquids for the last 4 days, I just want to be totally empty of everything before surgery.

Ok, I know this is TMI but my thought is I wont have to have a BM for a few days after surgery. I'm just afraid of straining. I know I'm crazy but just trying to head off any problems. Also I know some Dr's. have you do liquids for a full 2 weeks before. My sister is getting sleeved a month after me and her Dr wants her to do all liquid protein for 2 weeks prior to surgery.

I started this process about 6 months ago, too. And, I'm questioning my decision as well. But, for the last two decades (I'm turning 42 this year) I've taken care of everyone else, tried to have them be happy, turned myself inside out on the behalf of someone else sometimes... and I've finally gotten to a place in my life that I can say "I'm doing this for me and the quality of MY life and MY happiness". Took me a long time to get there and I still feel somewhat selfish. But, we are worth it, are we not?
