Hephsibar, I saw your post to ?? one of the sleevers who had surgery and was close to your pre-op weight of 185lb. That is where I am currently, and scheduled for surgery on April 17th with Dr. Almanza. Can you give me an update of what your journey has been? Any regrets?

sorry I'm just getting back to you I haven't been on here in awhile, I hope your surgery went well, I did fine no complications, we drove back to Las Vegas, that was the worst day for me, other than that everything has been wonderful, let me know how everything went for you.
  3. Good Luck today, I arrive tomorrow night, so I hope to hear that you had a speedy recovery
  4. I have a question for 'experienced sleevers' .... now that you are (say a year or so) past your surgery date - what and how much do you eat each day?

I was amazed at the lack of pain. You are on the iv until you leave and that is where they put the pain medication. On the third day I went shopping went to the beach and had a pedicure. I did want to sleep a lot and had a nap every day for about a week. I returned to work 5 days later. I had no trouble swallowing my medication. I could swallow one pill per sip of water. It was fine. You will be to.

I was very scared before I went and you can see the fear on my face in the before picture. Things that helped me, especially during that first month after. Sip on water mixed with electrolytes all day long. I got some good flavored ones from shoppers. The biggest problem is dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. Practice "mindful" eating because you have to relearn how to eat. Most of all be proud of yourself for taking control of your life. The first month was not easy and I threw up lots as I would get so hungry and then eat quickly or too much. I learn the hard way. Your anxiety is normal and just go with it. It will quickly be replaced with excitement as you see the weight falling off. Keep me posted and I will send loving-kindness thoughts your way.

Good morning! I am excited for you to have your sleeve... It is the best decision I have ever made for myself! I am almost 8 weeks out, and have lost 40 lbs. I had no complications at all. I must say, in all honesty, the plane ride home was the worst part for me. I had a 12:00pm flight, but because I flew home on Black Friday, they were worried about long lines at the border. They ended up dropping me at the airport at 6:30am, which didn't help. My airline wasn't open to check my luggage until 10:30, so I had to drag my suitcase with me every time I had to use the washroom.
I would recommend that you try to bring a carry on that has wheels, and bring warm clothes for the flight.
I my flights were long, there were delays, and I finally landed in Canada at 1:00am (our time).
It was so uncomfortable, and such a long day. I hope you don't have much in the line of layovers.
Make sure to try to purchase vitamin water zero or Gatorade once you pass security... You'll need to keep your strength up!!!
Best of luck to you, and congratulations on taking such a positive step!!!!!

  14. Good Luck on your journey, I am 100% sure its the best decision I have made for years so I hope that you have a great experience and hopefully hear from you before my surg date
  15. Hi, I have not had my surgery yet still working on it. I have talked to several people and some have nausea and most don't. One girl had a lot of nausea. I am scared to do this such a change in life but must for my health. I love to eat and hope that I can control myself and keep it off and do all I am supposed to do. There is a lot of stress in my life and I am a stress eater. I wish you luck on your surgery. Let me know how it goes. I want be able to do mine until April probably. Where I work have to wait till the other employee gets back from her knee replacement.

Low energy / tired

by Hephsibar on 03-09-2015 at 01:01 PM
I am a month and a week past my surgery and doing well. However I have been very tired and lack energy. I'm taking chew-able multiple vitamins, iron, and B12. I'm eating well and getting lots of water. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

How long do stalls in weight loss last?

by Hephsibar on 02-23-2015 at 12:37 PM
I was sleeved in late January (1 month ago) I've lost 21 lbs. but have come to a stall in weight loss. I've maintained the same weight for 2 weeks now. Is there a reason? When will I lose more? Am I doing something wrong?

Now that you are a year or so past having surgery, what and how much do you eat? What is 'normal' like for sleeved people?

What do I expect the first 4-7 days after sleeve surgery?

by Hephsibar on 12-28-2014 at 06:09 AM
What should I expect right after surgery? I appreciate hearing an honest view of this. I realize that I will be uncomfortable and gassy... but I want more details. Will I be tired, sick, normal, sore, constipated, hungry, ?????
