Hey you! I'm home again and am grateful for my family as well. I am able to eat soup and a teaspoon of cottage cheese. That's it. Today is protein shakes. I'm having a hard time getting it down. LOL I'm glad you are doing well and am sorry the Gas X didn't work for you. It's been my life saver. I'm so glad things went well with your surgery! Now we get to figure out our new tummies. Mine doesn't like much so far. Take care and talk to you soon!
  5. So I am home now. The worst part of the surgery so far for me is the burping. There is so much pressure that builds up and it must get released. Gas x does help but not as much as I hope it would. I am enjoying little sips of coconut water, it is easy on my stomach mild in flavor and high in potassium. I also had a about a shot glass amount of crème of chicken soup, watered down a little thinner. My tummy likes that too. My husband made me a shot glass of organic crème lentil soup and I will tell you it left me in agony, burned, burned, burned. So I found out how important it is to stick with very bland food. It is easier on the new sleeved tummy. So I will back up a bit. Before I left I had to have a leak test, I had no leaks. It was a funny day for my group of sleevers, who buy the way were some of the kindest most caring people I ever met. One by one we were called into the x-ray room and had to drink a horrible liquid. One by one we walked out and barfed. For those of us who waited we grew more and more fearful of out turn to go. In the end we all laughed about it, well carefully giggled. It really hurts to laugh so don't do that. All of us passed the leak test and got a copy of our x-ray. Then we were off to have the tube removed. That was no where near as bad as the liquid x-ray. I am happy to be back home with my loving family. Dr. Almanza was great in my case and the case of the people in my group. Put your fears aside.
  6. I am at hotel Tiquan. My coordinator came to my room an explained everything that I will be experiencing tomorrow. Originally I was supposed to stay at Camino Real but the hotel did not have enough rooms. So now back to Tiquan. at 8 am I will be taken to get lab work and an EKG, then will be prepped for surgery. More to come...I'm tired and cranky because no food for two days.... I will update when I can after the surgery. It may be a day or two before I relay my experience. Oh the broth taste great there is a nursing station on my floor and I have unlimited juice and broth and bottled water.

by Bethanymarie30 on 02-25-2014 at 12:25 AM
I got my sleeve this morning. I have had no problem so far. I did not vomit at all. I did have one dry heave the ffirst tome I got up to walk. O have listened to other a.d patients vomiting all day. My heart goes out to them. i was given an antinausial and it did the trick. I do have painful gas. it hurts when it builds up under the ribs. O followedmy prep to a tee but i stopped fluids at 8pm night before surgery. O think this helped me not to vomit. My roommate also stopped her fluids early and

Six days to go, February 24 here I come.

The Pre-op diet has been difficult, but hey I am down 10 pounds and this I can live with. I hope it is the first of many pounds shed on my journey to a healthier me. I have no desire to wear a bikini or anything like that, I just want to feel better. My heart goes out to anyone and everyone who has ever experienced the pain of feeling less than acceptable by others. Our weight should not be a factor in how we are received or loved by others. Unfortunately, we live in a world that has incredible
