LOVE the new picture, Sherrie. You sure look like you're having a great time there. And you look about half the age you were when you started down this road. What a ride this is, eh?
  2. I was told to do 5 day preop full liquids only. I did 2 weeks and lost 20 lbs. you want to shrink your liver. the preop is rough. basically you want to drink either a protein drink or chicken broth every hour or two, suck on SF Popsicles, SF jello and tons of water. you detox yourself from caffiene, sugar and medications. I had to quit all my meds before surgery too. then I went back on them only to be taken off them due suck low numbers. The air flight is very simple. I have flown to San Diego a lot. my son in law is in the Marines and was stationed down there. I flew down for long weekends? it is only about 1 hour 25 minutes from Sacto to San Diego. my flight home after surgery was okay. I got a wheelchair at desk and they wheeled me through the airport and got to board first. I slept the whole flight back. ask me anything!

85 lbs, congrats. I'm ready for this to begin. To be honest the only part I'm really nervous about the is the flight, but other than that, I'm ok. I appreciate the offer for help along the way. I would defiantly appreciate any tips regarding pre-op diet that worked for you. As a guy, there are so few of us, women rule the site, and they have a unique perspective on diets. Anything would help. Thanks. Dave.

Hello, I'm in Red Bluff & I was looking around the site & found you on Dr. Almanza's patient map. How would you rate your experience? Flight? Results? Any tips?
  5. thank you Bessie. I think I get in a bit too many carbs on the day. I don't work out hard just walk. I try to stay under 1000 cal a day but there are days I eat high cal foods. I was down 2 lbs this morning after thanksgiving. 40 more to goal. thank you and keep up your hard work also.

Hi Sherri! I do lose weight very fast. It's just my system. I have followed all of the rules.....I cheated for the first time yesterday (Thanksgiving). And I only had a 1 cupcake. I eat minimal carbs a day, work-out 1 hour a day, and take my vitamins. I eat around 900-1200 calories a day, but I usually burn 500-700 daily. Hope this helps. You've done awesome.

I am so glad your diabetes is better! Good luck at your next appointment! Hopefully mine will go away totally, if not then it is definitely better. Congratulations again on your accomplishments!

You look great! Great accomplishment! Did your diabetes get better? I am a diabetic and on my pre-op diet. My diabetes is getting better already. I am hoping to be rid of it when it's all said and done. Best of luck to you in the future!

  10. home! feeling pretty good.
  11. it's getter better. or I old say easier to get up nd move. not too much space to walk here

Yes, they fill your belly full of CO2 to make it easier for the instruments to move around. They try to suck it back out, but certainly cant. So the walking helps to mobilize and move the gas so your body can metabolize it and get rid of it.

Glad you are already in recovery and sounds like you are doing well. I'm not sure I could even type, lol.
  13. yes I am! in recovery and not doing too bad. it is uncomfty! walk as soon as you can and that helps?

Weight gain

by SDolan on 02-05-2015 at 10:00 PM
20 months out and have started to gain weight back. I need to go back to the beginning and start walking more and eating less. This isn't an easy road to navigate. Wishing everyone better luck than what I have.

15 months out and LOVING my sleeve

by SDolan on 09-22-2014 at 11:08 AM
I am 15 months out and down 95 lbs. started pre-op at 270 and current weight of 175. sie 22/24 3x down to 12/14. still have 30 lbs to goal but am extremely happy with weight loss. Dr. Almanza did my surgery and I had no complications afterwards. I have had other friends who used other drs down in TJ and they all did fine also. it's a choice I would do again.

5 months out from surgery

by SDolan on 11-10-2013 at 09:28 AM
I am 5 months out from my sleeve surgery and have lost 75 lbs and many inches! I have 45 more to go to my goal. I find myself eating until I am full instead of looking at the food and only eating so many ounces. I need to set aside the food that I know I should not eat and put it into a to go container. I have bad habits that need to be broke so I can successfully LOSE and keep off the weight. i am on the go and eat out often. that is hard as I don't always have the best menu options. blogging
