I'm doing well. We just had a housefull of guests, but now have our house back. I took out my own stitches saturday. Big mistake. 3 of the incisions popped open. I'm now managing them with strei strips. I wish the surgeon ould have used at least double the number of stitches. As far as eating, its been difficult to read the signals from my stomach. I have been eating tiny amounts of meat and cheese, some bread and crackers, and trying to stay hydrated. How are things going for you. I'm down about 23 lbs so far but only feel like I've lost 5.

Well? How are you doing? Thus far my only difficulty is some soreness in my abdomen region but that is to be expected. The other thing I struggled with obviously is going to sleep. I slept great the night before and being put under and then napping in and out all day... I just couldn't go to sleep. I had no problems walking around. As a matter of fact I've been roaming the halls for about 10-15 minutes every hour. Oh I also have THE driest mouth and a sore throat. Its like I ate a desert. Luckily for me they are allowing me to rinse out with water and some pink swabs so long as i dont swallow. That helps but it is only temporary. Other that that listed above I feel great. Which makes me so excited about the upcoming months. Which is probably another reason I can't sleep. I'm just excited!!!
I hope my "Surgery Date Partner" is doing well and that your recovery is a great process!

Luckily I have not had to do the liquid diet. My only required three planned meals with two snacks. My dietician said she wanted me to chew food until the last possible moment since I won't be chewing after the surgery for awhile.
Since im a football coach ive been around protein drinks for awhile so I'm used to them.
Wow!! While on vacation?!? Great will power! Kudos!
Since May 22 I've lost 16 pounds so far

Good luck to you. Two days and I'm getting scared. How was your Pre-op? I didn't find it to be dreadful as everyone else. I guess it helped that I just kept busy.

    Hey there,

Found you on Ravelry (I think), I am so excited to get my sleeve. You will have to let us know how are you getting along. My Ravelry ID is dyeing4you. I used to LOVE to knit socks but have just really gotten over it. I do plan on taking a sock to work on on the trip to MX in July. Hopefully I"ll feel like knitting afterwards, and walking and sipping. Just got in 2 books from amazon The Complete Idiots Guide to Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery and Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies. I really hope it will work. It is a last resort for me. Would love to be in the 200's again! lol Haven't seen those numbers for I can't tell you how long, but a long time! lol Nice to meet you!

Day 6 Post-Op

by MomtoGBandH on 06-11-2012 at 01:11 PM
I feel pretty good today, but my sleep schedule is WAAAAY off. Probably because I have really bad diarrhea. I mean like every 20 minutes. It really sucks and it makes sleeping not fun. I was up between like 2 and 5. Then I slept until a little after 8.
By then, my mom should have been gone and on her way to work. Instead, she was sleeping away. For the next hour I bugged her several times to get up but she didn't. I'm pissed because I just want her to leave. She gets so irritating

2nd day post op--Dr Almanza

by MomtoGBandH on 06-07-2012 at 06:13 AM
It is the middle of the night, but tomorrow is my 2nd day post op. I know that people are always looking for stories about Hospital Jerusalem and Dr Almanza so I want to share mine.
We were picked up at the airport. Everyone arrived promptly. We were early, but nobody was late. There were 9 of us, 1 was just a band fill, 1 was a duodenal switch, 1 lap band, and 6 sleeves. They took our blood, then took the first patient really fast (the DS patient). They also did the band fill rather

2 more days/in San Diego

by MomtoGBandH on 06-04-2012 at 12:08 AM
Left this morning, pretty early. Kids all woke up and said goodbye without too much fanfare. It was harder to say goodbye to DH after I had spent all those days writing him love letters. Right before my mom and I pulled away I told him I left something for him and the kids on the bed.
We timed the airport stuff just right. Got car parked in lot, shuttle to airport, check in baggage, security, snack for mom. She had just enough time to eat when they started the boarding lineup. We had

4 days left

by MomtoGBandH on 06-01-2012 at 10:11 AM
I have 4 days until my surgery. I am leaving in 2. I feel ready, unprepared, happy, excited, nervous, and every minute just ticks by. I still haven't packed a thing (except for what remained in my bag from last weekend's vacation).
The one thing I'm doing, that I'm really proud of, is leaving letters for my husband and kids for each day while I am gone. I am almost finished with DH's days. I picked a song that I felt I really liked, or described our relationship, and centered the words

Home Again Home Again Jiggity Jig.....

by MomtoGBandH on 05-29-2012 at 10:42 AM
Well, we made it home finally after 8:00 PM last night. DS#2's team won their 8:00 AM game, and then all Hell broke loose.
My mom, my other 2 kids and I were going to run up to get the 2 boys (DS and DH, he is a coach) some food. We got to the end of the long driveway in the parking lot and the car was making a strangely suspicious noise that I had an awful feeling about. Smartly, I stopped the car right away and you guessed it, we had a flat tire. Now, it was about 10:15 on Memorial
