HA! BOTH great toes, you mean? I've been doctoring them myself. I have the wounds healed BUT they both still hurt so I am guessing something else is going on...just afraid of going back to the podiatrist because she wanted to do the dreaded "I&D" (incise and debried)...OUCH! But, eventually I will probably have to. Funny thing is, neither of the two docs I saw had me take off my toenail polish and when I did...it really looks like I have a FUNGUS under each toenail..maybe from a pedicure??? Who knows? I'm a nurse, so I am a bad patieent and trying to fix myself!!!! Just tonight, I cut holes in my old walking tennis shoes right where the toe wounds were so I could walk on the treadmill!! lol!

Wow I was touched how caring you are, you are so kind to care about that lady and her insurance problems. I am in Australia and havent been operated on yet, as over here you have to belong to a health fund you just pay for 1 year to the hospital cover you need I choose private shared but you have the option of paying the difference to total private if you like. So after 1 year you choose your doctor and thats it no one can say no to your operation at all. Or you can pay around $15,000- $18,000 out right without health insurance but you get nothing back. With a health fund its about $3,900 plus the anesthetic $2,000 so you see its heaps different here. I am just waiting for my year to be up and that is July 27th so not long now. Have seen the doctor had everything done but he wants to do a bypass and I want a sleeve so going back to see him again. But have to say about 30 years ago I had my stomach stapled different to how it is done now but it was so painfull open cut from the breast bone down to the belly button and it never worked. There was no dietition no follow up and the morning after I got my drains etc out they brought me a breakfast of 2 fried eggs, 2 sausages 2 rashers of bacon whole tomato and mushrooms plus toast . It failed miserably the doctor thought he left it all too large. So again I am going to try to get my weight under control. Actually only wanted to say love your posts you show so much empathy its nice kind regards Tyler

  6. Damn dude, your doing better than me but you sound more active as well. Us old farts with bad knees finally give in to the pain gods after awhile and back off. I'm down 50 pounds overall and down 45 since surgery. Sounds like your on a great roll to the finish line. All is well with the sleeve and i couldn't be happier. I don't see barba again until the end of june with bllod work. Have my first grandchild coming this weekend so it's a little hectic around here. My daughter is being induced tomorrow so any time in the next 48 hours. Continued luck to you erik.

Hi Don, just checking in, to see if you have broken the plateau? I was entering my 3rd week of a stall and finally dropped another kilo (2.2lb) today, so I hope I'm on my way again. All the very best, Sharon

Thank you for your support! Most ppl have 2 weeks liquid and 2 weeks pureed. My doctor also had me keep my drainage tube in 10 days post-op. I think he places EXTRA on his plans. He's a good Doc. Wouldn't trust anyone else.
    You're GREAT!

Protein shakes for some, Real food is O.K. as well.

by 4linton on 06-26-2012 at 08:33 PM
Alright, today I had my early 6 month checkup a month early as Doc would be out of town next month. Everything is great. Had blood drawn 2 weeks ago and results are ALL either normal or slightly high for All vitamins/minerals and my cholesterol has dropped to 225 from 250. Unlike others I was told to drink shakes prior to and for a couple months after surgery but not to rely on them as my protein intake over time. I was to get my protein from REAL food sources as I progressed to eating more regularly.

This Idiot wants your feedback!

by 4linton on 06-23-2012 at 01:02 AM
After being called an idiot trying to be impressive I defended my stance with facts. Apparently facts are not always appreciated on this site and the ridicule began, remember I was called an idiot so the stone was thrown. My replying was probably my mistake and I apologize for doing so. After a number of weeks now I still recieve veiled comments with a "LOL" attacthed as to have a chuckle at my expense. I am considering leaving the sight if it is what the members would like. I would like

Insurance by any other name is no guaranty of coverage! It's the plan that matters most... or cash!

Just a blurb for those looking at WLS in their future. Most large Insurance companies cover differing styles of Weight Loss Surgeries. That being said, for many policy holders, it matters not as much the company you are insured with but what your individual policy itself will cover. Many people have policies that will cover WLS outright while others may have to have co-morbidities or 3-6 month supervised plans before getting approval and for a whole lot of people their personal policies will
