    Bridie,
Iam doing very well.Sometime i doubt whether the doctor did the right gastric sleeve surgery for me. Now iam in the pureed phas ebut eating something pureed is very difficult so i just eat something and chew it for a long time before i swallow. I dont feel my stomach being full. I read that it take almost a month to feel the stomach fullness other than that iam doing fine. What about you ...how ru doing?

I got my surgey done last week. Today is my 5 day post op. I too am not able to sleep in the night. I thought it was because iam on liquid diet now. My problem is that i cant take my mind of food. Anything lying around i used to take and put it in my mouth...now i cant. Iam not hungry but my brain is. I hope it changes once i start my regular food...but my doctor has given me a diet chart for 2 months and thats when i can eat normal again. My weight was 91kg and now iam 86kg...so around 17kg to go and i want to be able to eat all but in little quantities. Today was my first day out the hospital and i feel very very tired. Today suddenly i got hiccups...may be i need to reduce the quantity of fluid. My doctor told me to eat frequently and eat my meal for at least 30min. Try that...i wish i could help you more but iam new too. I wish you feel better. Where are you from? Are you still in chennai

Thanks Bridie, I fully understand where you are coming from with this and I did have a chuckle too. At least now I know that I shouldnt have any cardiac concerns, but am going to slowly increase the exercising now that I have the all clear. I already walk my dog on most days - sunday we have a day off. We average between 3 - 5klms per day, I am aiming to make it 5klms minimum once I get my fitness up.
Its amazing what our bodies have to put up with, glad that we are all healthy in the long run.
    Cheers.

Bypass needed after the sleeve

by Bridie on 01-11-2014 at 08:12 PM
I haven't been on this forum for a long time because I am no longer a gastric sleeve recipient. I had to have a gastric bypass about 7 months after the sleeve. While I won't go into too many lurid details, suffice to say the sleeve initially was great but I developed complications. I had a hiatal hernia post sleeve but I still had the most horrendous reflux and developed ulcers which closed up my large intestine. Ballooning was tried 4 times but would not keep things open and I was literally starving.

Goal reached but worried

by Bridie on 07-08-2012 at 06:19 AM
Here I am in a hotel room in Missouri contemplating my next move. You would think that having reached my goal I would be a happy camper, but I am far from it. I am miserable!
My journey has not been good. I have detailed it earlier, but to recount briefly, I was sleeved in February and constant problems with reflux followed. I never really progressed past thick liquids. Doctors found my stomach was sliding up and down so they needed to anchor the hernia with an operation. I had that June

A Tale of Caution updated

by Bridie on 06-20-2012 at 02:39 AM
Firstly, a big thanks for your support and encouragement. I really do like to read the submissions and try to offer any of my own insights from experience.
I am happy to report that I think I can now see the wood and the trees! I am cautiously optimistic that things are FINALLY starting to improve. My reflux activity has dropped significantly, so my sleeping ability has improved. I still feel "icky" some days but when I feel good, I feel close to normal. The danger is I tend to

Hard to get off liquids

by Bridie on 04-19-2012 at 10:15 AM
I believe I have been very patient. I am nearly 8 weeks out and I am still finding it hard to transition to even mushy food. I tried 2 tablespoons of mushy vegetables last night- a mixtue of all the ones suggested. It just seemed to get stuck. I held onto it until the morning but had to be sick to relieve the pressure. It felt like I was blocked. I am fine now but other than yoghurt and soup, I haven't been eating much. I have tried oatmeal and even that gave me some grief. It only works if I grind

Going on the offensive against acid reflux

by Bridie on 03-22-2012 at 10:03 AM
Well, I am getting few up with this reflux so I did some research during my midnight wake up after an acid "back wash". What I found out was that cider vingear mixed in water is a great cure. So, I am going to give it a go. I just took my first dose and it actually tasted better than this awful syrup I take for reflux. So I will let you know if there is any improvement in a few days. We live in hope!
