Hi Jingles I was encouraged by your post. I am 62 years old and will be having my surgery on Tuesday. I too have been heavy all my life. I decided that I would finally do something for me. In spite of the weight I have been mostly healthy all my life, but now have high blood pressure and sleep apnea. Time to do something to regain my health. Tired of the yoyo dieting. We still have a lot of living to do and with the sleeve we can do it healthier and slimmer. Continued success to you!

you sound like me mine went just as well today is my day 5 but i was on soft foods by day 3 i even ate a pickle lol so i am hopeful ... good luck
  6. I was sleeved on August 23rd at 4 PM and was up walking by 9 that evening. I did really well with minimal pain so I was released to come home yesterday at noon - so not even in the hospital a day. Now that I am home the tricky part will be figuring how to get my liquids in - I am starting to get some gas pain when I drink so have to get rid of that too - it stayed away while in the hospital but has surfaced now. I am on 2 weeks of full liquids before I can move to the pureed phase. So far the thought of food makes me a bit sick so I have no desire to eat anything.

I was sent home with liquid tylanol for pain as needed and liquid Colace which is a laxative that I am to take twice a day. I also am to take a prilosec pill every morning to prevent acid from harming the staples - I was cleared to take pills smaller than the size of a pencil eraser but that would scare me now until my new tummy has healed.

I gained 10 pounds while going through the surgery and hooked to the IVs - I have been peeing a lot since last night so thinking it is working its way out of my body.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers - Jingles

protein hot drink

by Jingles on 02-16-2013 at 10:31 AM
I am nearly 6 months out and 75 pounds lighter - happy! I get in extra protein by mixing 1 scoop of Unjury chocolate splendor (21 grams protein) with decaf coffee a couple of times a day. To insure that the consistecy of the protein is not clumpy when mixed with the hot coffee I blend the coffee and protein powder in my blender and then pour it into my coffee mug. It stays smooth and yummy with no clumps. I still like drinking 60 grams of protein per day to make sure I get enough in.

If you are over 60...

by Jingles on 12-07-2012 at 12:50 PM
Just want to let you know that those of us over age 60 can be successsful with the sleeve. I will be 62 next month and as far as I can tell I am losing weight similarly to my younger sleevers. Down 65 as of this morning and sitting here in size Large Christmas pajamas - whodathunk?!! When I had surgery the doctor mentioned that his typical patient is female between the ages of 25 and 45 and he added that I was his oldest since he started peforming the sleeve about three years ago. He also thought

Three months post

by Jingles on 11-30-2012 at 08:26 AM
I am three months post surgery and really feeling good. I have lost 63 pounds from the pre-op liquid diet to today. That translates to 4 size changes in pants (from 24 to 16-14 depending on the brand), from a 2X top to a Large or XL, again depending on the brand. I no longer have joint pain at my hips or ankles and I easily fit into airline seats now...that was one reason why I knew I had to get my weight under control because I have to fly a lot for work and I was having a hard time staying

Under 200...199 to be exact!

by Jingles on 11-13-2012 at 04:39 PM
It has been 10 years since I was under 200 pounds so this feels really good:-)...56 pounds off since August - my surgery was the 23rd and I did two weeks of pre-op liquids before surgery. I have gone from 2x to XL and L tops and from 24 pants to 16W. I just knew the sleeve was the right thing for me - I had gained a lot of weight the past couple of years and my 61 year old body was giving me fits - now it is appreciative of the weight loss and I take no meds except my supplements due to the surgery.
