I especially love the mention of the "fifties" group. I'm 53 so nice to know that I'm not in this alone. It sure does tend to get a bit tougher as you get older, but then I've always been one who feels that it's really all in your mind too.
Thanks everyone for all of your support! I found this forum through a woman I'd met in the xray area on March 22nd the day after we'd both had our surgeries - she'd told me about it.
I wish I'd known sooner it would've been fun to have posted my thoughts prior to. Crazy what you go through isn't it? The similarities are sure all there with all of us as I read through the posts.
Looking forward to keeping in touch with everyone - thanks so much again! ;-) - Cindy

I'm trying like crazy to cut back on the pain medication but part of me is worried that it's going to wake me up in the middle of the night hurting like crazy like it did earlier when I was simply laying on my bed and I'd reached for something across the bed. I thought I'd really split something open or something...scary!
Energy level is really good I've been taking 4 of the optisource vitamins each day, sugar free jello, sugar free popcicles, powerade, vitamin water (ick!I had no idea) and try to have the injury chicken soup once a day but doesn't appear to be as good right now. I've not got paid medical leave through work get this - because the underwriter considered me to be obese they wouldn't approve it. Therefore am out on FMLA on my own dime (ouch) til April 14th. If I can swing it will plan on staying out for the break from work is much needed anyway, but the $ is needed more so we shall see! I'm going to school full time online also so now that I'm not so groggy from the meds I'm finding that helpful, am playing catch up right now.
I read some of your posts and thought you might be fun to visit with along with the others in here as I continue to move along this journey. This is it I feel! Has to work ;-) I've tried everything else through the years while I've got outstanding insurance I opted to go for it.

Wow this is so crazy! Here I am 6 days out since my surgery and so sore feeling a lot better with the gas in my chest that seems to have gone away at long last that was aweful! Now I'm fighting the battle of being able to sleep all night long. Crazy dreams then when I wake up I feel as if I've been in a super deep sleep that I had a hard time getting out of. Afraid to go back to sleep I wind up staying up for a little while. My Dr.'s got me on 7 days of the clear liquid diet following surgery so I'm just about there...whew!
It's going to be nice to be able to put a little consistency into my mouth and my tummy.
Funny thing I've found is that I've not once been hungry since prior to surgery. Perhaps this has to do with being so anxious to get the show on the road so to speak when I'd initially wanted to have the sleeve surgery last fall when suddenly I found out I had a blood clot behind my left knee.
My staples are still in and I don't recall when they are to be taken out, but for now I'd rather they were in. I'm the type of person who's mind tells herself to get all sorts of things taken care of - and oh yeah..oops the body is saying a bzzzzzz no way!! Sure hurts when I bend over.
I'm curious if you can tell me what you experienced in the first few weeks following your surgery.
  4. You are doing awesome! I was looking at others that had surgery the same time that I did and I came across you. I was trying to find out if my weight-loss was average...you are doing great!! I have lost 40 pounds since my surgery on November 16th. Congratulations!!

Hi Cathy hope all went well with your surgery. Hang in there time does go by and you will feel a lot better. I am now going into my 5th week and I feel very good and the weight is coming off, and people are starting to notice I have not told many people about it and at this stage I don't intend to. Wishing you all the best.
  7. Good Luck with the surgery today!
