Wow I saw your B&A pictures and you look great! You should be very proud of yourself.
  7. Same here with the chicken! It just doesn't want to stay down no matter how moist I think it is. Everything else is good so far as long as I eat it slowly and not too much. Energy is great, too.

    Take care!

Thank you! I am so surprised that it just keeps dropping off. I have so much more energy than I did before, so my activity level has increased. I think I am giving up on chicken though. I just cannot chew it enough so that my stomach doesn't have problems digesting it. I don't have problems with steak, fish, pork, but I get sick every time with chicken. Other than that I really don't struggle with hunger or portion sizes. How about you?

Hi T-Bird and congrats. I have a few questions if yo don't mind. I had surgery March 5, I'm 5'6 and weighed 268 and I'm down to 220 in less than 3 months. Sometimes I worry it's not coming off as quickly as it should and I fear I will hit that point that I've read about after 6-12 months out we won't lose as quickly.
Can you tell me what yu started out as and what you are now?
    Did you exercise?

And do you drink the protein shakes and if so do you think that helps in losing the weight? I get in about 50-60 grams of protein but cannt stand to drink the shakes.
    thank you

I joined a gym close to my house, downloaded several inspiring podcasts and songs, and go to the gym every other day. Some days I have more energy than others, so I try to make the most of those days.

Thanks T-Bird. I could not be more pleased with my progress so far. I cannot believe that I am actually down as far as I am at this point. I know it won't always be this fast, but I feel great, and I don't feel like I am starving or deprived of anything.

Hi T-Bird! Just wanted to ask you a question. First of all, congratulations to you! It sounds like you are doing a great job fighting off the demons. Fried chicken is a wonderful thing but really not worth the guilt that comes with indulging for those few moments.
I have been reading some of your posts and really appriciate the info. My question is... I will be having my surgery the 26th. I was wondering when you packed what type of stuff did you take and is there anything special you may think I need to take.

Finally, a birthday goal reached!

by T-Bird on 08-05-2012 at 12:36 PM
Today is my 56th birthday and I weigh 150 lbs. I am so happy I have the VSG. there have been so many birthdays where I have said, "The next one I want to be smaller". Well, that one is finally here! Last year on this day I weighed over ***lbs. 70 lbs gone and only 10 more to go. The benefits are both mental and physical. I fell so free and the insecurity over my appearance is gone. No more embarrassment. I feel happily normal. I can hsop in regular stores now. I just bought a size 6 pant.

Almost 5 months post op

by T-Bird on 05-22-2012 at 09:20 AM
It is amazing, when I look back, the amount of weight I have lost. Not as much as some, probably, but more than I imagined before my surgery. I only have 16 lbs to get to my goal! So many positives now...
1. Sleep apnea is gone
2. Feet don't hurt anymore
3. More stamina
4. Better balance
5. Much more flexibility-easier to tie my shoes, etc...
6. Dropped from size 22-24 on top to a 12-14!
7. Dropped from 18-20 on bottom to 8-10!
8. I love

5 Days Post op

by T-Bird on 01-14-2012 at 04:20 PM
I am surprised I feel so good. I am still taking pain meds about 3 times per day, but I'm able to walk around and do light tasks. I get tired fairly easily. I am able to drink a protein shake, 11 oz takes about an hour. My goal is 2 per day. Next week I'll start adding soft foods. Haven't had any nausea. I'm sleeping great. My husband said I have quit snoring since coming home from the hospital! No wonder I am sleeping so well. This surgery has already been worth it! I weighed 196 on the day
