Amy, Where did you drive to for Dr Aceves? Did you leave your car in the US and let them pick you up? I'm in PHX and haveing my band & gallbladder out, and a hernia fixed in Scottsdale in 2 weeks. After 90 days i'd like to get a sleeve from Dr Aceves. Thank you :-)

Hi Amy! I haven't been on the forum in a long time and have been wondering how you are doing? I am doing great-surviving another winter in AK! Have you healed from your PS? Are you happy with it? I vascillate between wanting to get some plastics done and then saying "oh the heck with it". I have been maintaining my weight-which is nice. Well, I hope you are well. Write sometime!
  3. I answered your question in a PM. I didn't go to TJ. There are others who have gone to TJ and were happy.

Saw your post about having a face lift in TJ. Can I ask how you're doing and if you would recommend who you used? We are considering cosmetic surgery. My daughter TT and BL and I'm considering a face lift. Thanks! Paula
  5. Hi .......... (Not sure what you rname is

Welcome to your new journey. Once you are off the liquids and can get in the protien you need, you will have more energy than you have ever had. I feel absolutely wonderful, better than i have in years. I am very faithful about getting in 70-80 gms of protein or more every day. So, in addition to carrying around 100 pounds less, i am consuming more protein than ever. As i tell people, how much protein can you get from three fast food meals per day??? LOL

I still have not mastered, and haven't really tried, to get my protien amounts in without supplements. For me, it's easier to do bars and shakes for 50 gms. Then i make up the rest with Greek yogurt, hi protien snacks, vegetables, fruits, nuts, cheese and eggs.

I'll be glad to share any info i have garnered through trial and error over the past 10 months. I don't check the forum as regularly as i did at first, so if you want to chat, feel free to PM me.

Wishing you the best and telling you this was the best decision you have ever made!

Hi Amy, I was reading a few of your posts here and was so inspired by you. I am 57 and was very happy to find another 'mature' person on here! I am 2 weeks post op and other than reflux, am doing well. The only thing that concerns me is the lack of energy, does this get better once we are on 'real' food?

    Heh Amy!

H ow the heck have you been? I haven't seen you on here in a loooonnnng time. How is your weight loss going? I hope it has gone as smoothly as mine has. Just had an issue with my gallbladder & that is it. I got to my goal and went 15 pounds lower nd I have maintained for the zpast 3 months. Even did good on a 5 week vacation this summer. Truly this was the best decision and $ I have ever spent on myself. Write back, okay? Phyllis

hi my name is betty and i think i will be getting sleeved in march but i am terrifide i am 59 and so over weight i have heart papulations . please any advice for me
  10. Well, it worked this morning :-) BTW, i love your new avatar!

    hugs back........must run to work.
  11. Hi Betty.....All i can say is it's never too late. I was 65 and my only regret is that i didn't do it sooner. It has changed my life so remarkably, i can't say enough positive things about it. Everyone i know can see not only the physical changes in me, but the emotional and psychological changes. I have more confidence and energy than ever before. I absolutely loved my surgeon and he did a fantastic job. I drove home from MX on day three and was back to work part time on day five and almost full time after that.

59 is not old at all. I have heard of someone who did it at 70. What difference does age make anyway? If you want to live a longer and healthier life, this is the answer. I wish you the best

hi my name is betty and i want to get the sleeve but because of my age i am scared any tips i am 59
  13. Hi..........Not sure what you name is :-) I'm glad you are making this big change in your life. You will not regret it. Thanks for the comments about the picture. I have lost 30 more pounds since that picture, but can't seem to manage to load it on this site :-(
Losing weight has done nothing to help my tech skills......or lack thereof.

Where are you getting you sleeve done? I will be in Mexicali at the same time getting plastic surgery. The big downside to being older and losing 100 lbs + is the loose skin. Keep me posted on your progress!

Were you able to stop taking Ursodiol at six months? If so, did it work? I am almost at 5 months and a little scared to stop taking it at 6 months since I am still 55 pounds away from my goal.

Thrift store in my own closet

by TucsonAmy on 12-09-2011 at 08:12 PM
Tonight I was looking through a closet i don't usually use. What to my surprise..i found a bunch of clothes from my slightly slimmer days. I forgot they were even in there. I hit the motherload! New, or almost new jeans, shirts and lots of casual pants. This will tide me over for the next 30#. Everyone at work has been teasing me about my baggy pants, so now they will see an entirely new wardrobe. It may be slightly out of style, but i don't really care.

What a nice treat!!

Liquid diet question

by TucsonAmy on 11-30-2011 at 08:02 AM
I know i should limit my fluid intake to 2 oz at a time in this beginning stage. If i sip on water, that's about all i can take in. But if I'm eating a sugar free popsicle or drinking hot broth or tea, i can drink much more at a time with no discomfort....same with Jello.

Does anyone know why this is and is it harmful?
