Hey Carolyn, your new picture is great! I haven't been on in forever (it's true, the farther out you get from surgery, the less you feel like you need to come here!) but I had some time to kill so here I am! Glad to see you're still doing wonderfully!

you look amazing. I was worried I was too old (41) and would look flabby or have too much lose skin. Thanks so much for your inspiring "strip tease" on you tube. Congrats. My surgery is in about a month. Just submitted everything to insurance. Cant wait to feel as good as you look and I'm sure feel about yourself. Thanks again.

    Hi Carolyn,
I decided to watch your videos again for inspiration this morning; the last time I watched them was right before my surgery. Now I am 18 days out and realized that we started at the same weight, and each week we are exactly the same with pounds lost. I am due to hit my plateau going into the third week here so I have decided that I am going to watch your video one week out so I know what to expect. I love it because they make me feel like I am right on track.
Thank you so much for making those videos!

Carolyn, you look great!! I watched a few of your videos on you-tube and wow!! what a change!! Good for you for taking care of yourself now. I'm 57 now and will probably be 58 before my surgery is done. But that's ok, I'll be fit by 60. Just curious, why did you go with the sleeve verses the bypass? I have successful friends from both surgeries and although i was ready for the sleeve, my insurance is making me choose between bypass and lapband and I'm not doing the band. My husband had the sleeve 10-19-12 and he's having a rough time with nausea. I'm really starting to believe it's because he hardly eats and with taking his meds it's just tearing his stomach up. Anyway, sorry didn't mean to ramble. mainly wanted to tell you Congratulations BIG time!!

Hey lady! Sorry it took me so long to respond, I haven't been on the site very much. I'm down 123 pounds, I've got about 50 to go. It's coming off pretty slow now, I'm averaging about 1.5-2 pounds a week. I guess I shouldn't complain, I know some people are losing even slower. It's frustrating though, at that rate it'll take almost another year to get the rest of the weight off!
How are you doing? You're looking fabulous!

Aww, well thank you!! I feel incredible! I want only to give the closest to the doctor's orders as I can when I message others... especially those new to this. I worry that people that have chosen to make their own "plan" will fail and while they are at it, take others down with them.

When I left high school I was barely 100 lbs... in the course of a few years, I gained up to 80 lbs and fought my weight for 15 years after that yo-yo dieting the whole way. My highest was 245 lbs in 2006. Now, I settle around 136 lbs

I was 264 lbs. I'm do to 162 now so I've lost 102 so far. My goal is to be 140 lbs. so I would be really happy losing another 20 lbs.I had my plastic surgeries in the US about a year apart. I had no idea about MX and how much cheaper surgery was there at the time. I spent $10,500 on the implants and lift and the tummy was $7,500 (i'm still paying for this one) I live in NC so I don't know how prices compare to other parts of the country. Because I regained all of my weight back plus some after I had the plastic surgery, my boobs aren't as great as before but I think having the implant in there has prevented the sagging. My tummy tuck has held up nicely though. My but and inner thighs are another story though I maxxed out my credit cards to have the weight loss surgery so it would be a long time before I could have anything done like a thigh lift. I've tried things like dry skin brushing and taking MSM supplements but I haven't been really consistent about it. I read a lot about these things on the internet and some people swear by them and that they help with sagging skin after surgery. I just need to be more diligent. When I lost the weight before all on my own, I didn't have any problems with sagging skin and I loved the way my legs looked but I was younger then. That was eight years ago, so I guess age and the surgery have a lot to do with it. I'm just trying to take one day at a time and not get frustrated but sometimes it's not that easy....

I just watched your video and you are an inspiration. You allow for me to see that where there is a will there is a way.

Thanks for sharing your journey with us all. xxx

    Hi again,
I was in Mexico all my myself. I think the woman who came with her husband was named Heather and they stayed downstairs. I was upstairs.
I really just starting working out in June and that's mainly been the elliptycal. I usually do an hour and try to add weights. I'm doing good if
I get there four to five days a week. I wish I could do more. I have noticed that I can eat a few more bites that a fews months ago and I have had
some slips like chips and some sweets (we're not perfect, right?) but all in all I've been really happy. I allow myself to have my coffee with flavored creamer, I just can't help it but I do use splenda. I'm doing ok on the protein like you although I've thought about doing soups and liquids this week
because I've read where others have said that has helped them get over a stall. I had lost 100 lbs. on my own before I had the surgery then I gained it
all back but I had already had a tummy tuck and breast lift with implants. So far, I don't think I'll redo those surgeries (they'll never be perfect and never look like they did before but I don't want to go thru that again). I would however like to do something for my thighs. Do you ever think you
will go back to MX for anything else?
Yes, I have watched all of your videos, they are great You look wonderful....

    Carolyn,
I don't know if you remember me but I had my surgery the day after you and we met at the recovery house. You look great!!! I'm so glad that you're doing well. I've not had any problems either. I'm so
glad that we both made this life changing decision almost a year ago this week. Please keep in touch
and know that you have inspired many

Little Victories!

by carolynodien on 10-06-2011 at 12:48 AM
OK, after 11 days of cutting back and losing 8 lbs pre-op, I was convinced by another member here to extend my 3 day pre-op liquid diet to 5 days, today being the first. I was a little nervous about doing it, whether I could make it the whole day, but I did! I work at a steakhouse where it is VERY easy to grab food on the run, and I didn't have even a nibble. I brought beef broth and sipped it all evening. I had a 26g protein "shot" before work (0 sugar, 0 carbs, 26 g protien!! tasted
